You're a group of friends; young, bored, and hungry for success. You're fed up with school, relationships, family, and just life in general. Time has taken you to the tender age of 18 and upon all you think you've been through, you decide to do what? Answer: Make A Band.

The scenario is the basis for what seems to be any new pop/punk band to hit the scene within the past few years. "It's the latest craze!" the people cry. And Something Corporate hits the craze running, with the power of a piano right on their backs.

I honestly don't know exactly what it is about this album. I'm not sure what it is that touched me the most. Whether it was his earnest, yearning voice, the power of the "piano-punk" approach to the music, the moving melody that allows each song to transcend mediocracy and go souring into beautiful, or if it's the honest, strangely sharp lyrics that hit me hard on so many levels in terms of relation and sympathy that tell me that this album is one of the best to be released so far within the year.

Most of us remember Something Corporate from the ballad that was Konstantine. Possibly one of the greatest anthems of failed relationships, Konstantine put Something Corporate on the spotlight and sent them into fame, and let me tell you, fame does not disapoint on Leaving Through The Window.

Each song, even the lighter tuned ones of 'If You C Jordan' (the latest single) and 'Punk Rock Princess,' demand the attention and bring out the deeper intiutions within any listeners. Andrew McMahon blends each song with melodic piano tunes and one of the most harmonious voices in any recent band, and put together with the likes of Josh Parington and William Tell on guitar, "Clutch" on bass, and Brian Ireland on drums, Something Corporate has produced one of the finest pieces of music to be released in a while.

this band is the shit and this album fucking rocks

    Anonymous (January 1, 2005)

Wow, if you dont like this band its simple use your head and dont listen to them. Does it make you feel good about yourselves to complain about a band? I personally think they are very good. They never said that were punk. i actually read that they said they think they dont fit into any catagory. theyre just more origional i guess. and to the guy who said his voice is aweful, i think his voice is very nice. Maybe as a girl i have different views on his vioce or the band for fact but I think they are an awesome blend of songs from a group of guys performing, not trying to get rich and famous or be popular, just guys who like to sing emotional songs. thats all i have to say.

Wow I really wish I hadn't come to this site- it put me an a shitty mood. It sounds to me like most of you people like to bitch about dumb ass stuff and call yourselves punk for it. Fuck that! SoCo mixes emotional, deep lyrics with awesome music and piano- personally I think their sound is refreshing and it gives me chills. "Woke up in a car" is an awesome song- and in case you assholes didn't notice not all these songs are about chicks. So do us all a favor and go listen to your worthless "destructive angry" shitty music and stop passing judgement on a band which obviously exceeds your depth of character.

k i love metal e.g metallica , pantera wich i weird cause i actually like this , maybe cause it original but whatever it good

    Anonymous (July 27, 2003)

hey i dont know why these guys get so much shit from everyone. yea he is very whiney and shit but there at least origional. i mean i like heavy bands like 18V glassjaw and even converge but i enjoy these guys. give them a chance

It sounds like the fuck a few comments below this one is suffering some sexual dilemmas. He can't stand songs about girls. He is disgusted by the amazingly hot model climbing down the wall on the album's cover. Hey buddy, like it or not, sex sells.
The guys of Something Corporate are able to look past girls' cooties (unlike the forementioned duschebag)and sing some really emotional, catchy songs, especially "Fall", "woke up in a car", and "Kissed a drunk girl".
The album was longer than most punk albums, which I found quite refreshing. Personally, I feel ripped off when a band comes out with an album with 9 songs on it and each one is, like, 2 minutes long. It's a fucking waste of money.
In closing, Fuck all of you Punkier than Thou assholes,
    Sick Of You All

I love punk but I still like this shit too. I have to force myself to take it out of the stereo because it is so addicting.

    Anonymous (December 2, 2002)

This album is just as good as the original review said. From the beginning of "I Want to Save You" to the end of "Globes and Maps" you will listen to this record non-stop. The melodies are infectious and the lyrics are deep and speak to everyone.
*And for the record, Something Corporate never claimed to be punk *

    Anonymous (July 30, 2002)

If you get banned from #punkhq, don't sweat. They're a bunch of 13 year old pricks. There are much better Efnet chans out there.

By the way, if you can't figure out mIRC... shoot yourself.

    Anonymous (June 29, 2002)

YES!! KILL!! DESTROY!ANNIHILATE!!!! I miss music with these qualitys. And not bands that sang about it "like the Pistols" but bands that actually did these things......well everything except killing- the band is Black Flag!!!!

    Anonymous (June 27, 2002)

jesus, is anyone else fucking sick and tired of all of the shitty pop punk songs about girls? every single one is about a girl. for christs sake, there is more to life than just chicks. why the hell do i want to listen to some guy with an obnoxious voice sing about his girlfriend. spare me. and i'm sure putting a pornstar/model (there's no fucking difference) on the cover of an album is an attempt to "celebrate beauty". i don't want this hippy shit, give me violence. we're talking about punk rock here...

    Anonymous (June 27, 2002)

Wow can you say something sucks cause this hits the shit with the hammer. i find that this cd makes me want to kill these guys or sneak into there show just to taunt and boo them teel i puke on them for being so bad. oh yea did i say they suck

    Anonymous (June 25, 2002)

hey cobra, that was a porn star named janine on the cover of enema of the state. and sex does sell. fuck what is every love, emo, pop punk song about? - relationships. and all romantic relationships have a sexual undercurrent to them naturally. reproduction and sex is a necessity to humans. so what? are u a puritan? theres nothing wrong w/ celebrating beauty, or singing about it. its natural. its a primitive desire, i'd rather see that than a violent cover.buy the way this album is pretty good.

    Anonymous (June 24, 2002)

what's with putting models on cd covers? does this sell cds? well i guess it sold "enema of the state" and it's selling "living well is the best revenge". i don' think punk should mimic mainstream music's "sex sells" strategy.

    Anonymous (June 24, 2002)

    AlucardX (June 23, 2002)

wonderful, i can't figure out how to use mirc if i had a gun to my head...

    Anonymous (June 23, 2002)

I found it on MirC at a channel called #punkhq .

    AlucardX (June 23, 2002)

where's the new nerf herder at? I'd use audiogalaxy but...

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

Calling this band "punk" is just plain sad.-SaYnE GuY

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

Hey the new nerf herder record is available on the internet now so go get that instead motherfuckers!!!! it's called american cheese and is so much better than this shit thank you!!!

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

I don't know how anyone couid possibly like the singers voice

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

this band is the most overrated boy band ive ever heard. anyone who thinks this is a quality release might also want to check out Backstreet Boys "Black And Blue" and N*SYNC "Celebrity" you will most likely find them to be just as high quality music.

    CallingLondon (June 22, 2002)

if you see jordan, tell him his band fucking sucks.

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

By the way- If I was 18 again and wanted ti make a band I would want to be mean, destructive and angry- I wouldn't compromise like these pussys

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

She shut up and never put the tape in again.

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

Yeah, my girlfriend liked this band too- I laughed and said " ok, that's good, ok, shut up now"

    sockk (June 22, 2002)

hey anonymous d00d, nice to see that you're getting some use out of your thesaurus. it must've been well worth the money. but, if you purchased this album and see it as rock music with substance, you wasted twenty dollars.

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

a girl i had a crush on liked this band. she made me a mix tape with a song of theirs on it. i never listen to that tape. enough said.

    Anonymous (June 22, 2002)

minus the trendy appearance of if u c jordan, this cd carries with it a substance the likes of you all could only hope to ascertain.

    Anonymous (June 21, 2002)

if you like this cd I hate you

    sockk (June 21, 2002)

    "and go souring into beautiful"

i'd hate to instruct someone on their english, but that adjective, beautiful, needs something to modify, or it just doesn't work. but i think souring was a nice choice.

    Anonymous (June 21, 2002)

please this is so cheesy ...entertainment. not any kind substance here they will dissapear and non one will ever hear of them in 5 years, 2 stars for trying?

    Anonymous (June 21, 2002)

Why is there two very different reviews from this record? Who am I supposed to believe now? Can't you fuckers make up your mind? I'm going to punkrocks.net !!!!

    maverick (June 21, 2002)

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

    "Move over, Rites of Spring."
