In my effort to review some of the modern classics, I have come to "Out Come The Wolves". Maxwell Murder was a slap in the face of wannabe bassists trying to get by on one string. Tim Armstrong's raw and UK inspired voice lends to the overall appeal of the album, although he would go on to become too punk for his own good. So this record got lots of radioplay, so they made multiple music videos and so what if they made lots of money and got the groupies. It's still good music, and this CD still moves the pit as the crowd awaits the headliners...

I've only been a fan for a couple of years, I am completly in LOVE with Tim Armstrong.

    nedsammy (May 20, 2010)

yes, it's a punk landmark. yes, it's incredible. it contains some of the greatest punk songs ever, some of the best ska ever, some of the best punk lyrics, some of the most exciting playing, some of the best basswork, incredible production and dual vocals.
    but you knew that!

    cinimod43996 (June 26, 2009)

This album is my favorite album by Rancid, and one of my favorites of all time. I love the bass solo on Maxwell Murder and I love Junkie Man. I saw these guys in concert on June 11th at Red Rocks, which is in Denver, Colorado. This album was one of the most played albums in the concert. These guys are awesome!!!!!

    crayZsaaron (November 17, 2008)

This album is nothing short of amazing. It is punk as hell but it still manages to be shamelessly poppy and it has insanely catchy choruses. It is amazing.

    C-Men (June 28, 2008)

best rancid album ever. ...and out come the wolves was one of the most popular punk albums released on epitaph records. along with nofx's punk in drublic, the offspring's smash, and bad religion's suffer. i love all of those albums! great record!

    therehabaddicts (January 16, 2008)

this is not a complaint, but why does rancid have so many songs on each record?

    awesome record

    aaron_07 (September 18, 2007)

awesome record, the last songs kinda drain it a bit with the lyrics about girls, but overall, awesome

    Anonymous (August 2, 2007)

The beginning is strong, but I cannot listen to it all the way through. Too much of the same. It could've used some more ska, too. The three ska songs are all in my top five on the album.

    xdeadheartsx (January 20, 2007)

My first Rancid album. & Roots Radicals is the best song.

    miff (October 12, 2006)

what exactly do you mean by UK inspired?
i no no one who sounds like that
he may be rying to sound like a mr strummer but please it is not a british accent
n neither do people actually talk how british people are portrayed in films

    bloodystroke (July 17, 2006)

    This record rocks my ass

    MARKO630 (May 29, 2006)

There are two albums that changed my life: The first Clash album and this album.i dont know whered Id be without it

    punksxe (May 1, 2006)

this is one of the best punk records in the last 10 years. this cd has alot of songs and they all fit together perfect. It was relesed all the way back in 95 and is still just as poular if not more popular now. they go from fast loud ass punk songs like maxwell murder to ska tracks like time bomb. Some people know this record from the radio hit ruby soho. this is the album that made them big and evryone should get it. If this not the best punk cd then it the best rancid cd

    soniaiskewl (April 30, 2006)

definitely one of my all-time favorites. I can never get tired listening to this thing. EVER.

    Anonymous (April 25, 2006)

Best Rancid album. This, along with albums like Punk In Drublic, completely changed all modern punk. With any newer punk band, you can pick up a hint of Rancid in their style. And that's the way it should be. This album is amazing and the bass solo on Maxwell Murder is probably the single best punk solo of any type ever. Period. This is what establsihed Rancid as a serious punk band, and the world just wouldn't be the same without it.

    Anonymous (March 30, 2006)

Best punk album ever?... Definetly in the top 3 at least, imo...

    miff (November 20, 2005)

i preferd their 1993 selftitled album
n has anyone noticed how similar the cover is to the minor threat selftitled EP

    Anonymous (November 15, 2005)

    This is their greatest

    TheLady (November 15, 2005)

    sean39 (April 20, 2005)

This is a great album, probably one of Rancids best. It has great guitar riffs and bass lines. This is an all around great album.

either you're an idiot who thinks good charlotte is great and so is rancid or you're an idiot who thinks that good charlotte sucks and so does rancid.

what in your mind made you make this comparisation?!?

    Anonymous (November 9, 2003)

rancid is the good charlotte for the early 90s

    Anonymous (October 14, 2003)

one of my top ten best albums of all time. this happened to be my second cd (the first being Rancid's "Let's Go"), but its one of the best i've heard so far. you need this album in your collection.

This album is easily a 10 - classic. - bigjerk

    dropkick (February 15, 2003)

kinda polished, rancid is better hard and raw and fast. Matt plays a beautiful bass on this record,i think he set like 3 basses on fire while recording it

    Anonymous (January 6, 2003)

    overrated Clash rip-offs

    bemused (July 22, 2002)

Probably the only Rancid album most of their "fans" (that is the MTV crowd) will listen to. This is thumbs-up, happy times for all punk fans. Personally I like Tim/Matt's Op Ivy better though, however Rancid have their moments(Maxwell Murder,Old Friend and JTTEOEB-which is about their Op Ivy days) No denying this is a classic and deserved of all the acclaim and popularity Rancid received after this release.
Who do you think is the better singer-TIM or LARS

    waste_elite (June 21, 2002)

a big departure from the rest of the catalogue, but i love it. classic.

    BrassMonkey (June 18, 2002)

This CD holds 2 of my favorite Rancid songs, Time Bomb and Ruby Soho. The rest of the CD is about 50% good, 50% bad. Anyone new to punk should pick this up.

    eric2guns (May 18, 2002)

This is one of the greatest albums ever created. True it is not "street punk" yet it is better and more original then any street punk album I have ever heard. Each musician shines on EVERY song, which leads to around 20 layered and beautiful compositions. Tim's lyrics come on to full form on this album. On song's like "Olympia" and "ruby Soho" his poetry is almost Dylan-esque. To the people who hate this album because they don't think it is hard enough are too close minded and will miss out on a lot of great music. To the people that think Rancid sold out- fuck you. Wow big surprise that a truely original, genuine, and catchy album got a mad buzz going and made Rancid a lot of money. Its not like they made a song like "pretty fly for a white guy" or did a Micheal Jackson cover. They stayed true to themselves and recorded a classic in the process.

piece of dumb asses its not street punk
    its now main stream dumbies

    Anonymous (March 27, 2002)

sounds like shit all cheap all punk time moves but the band doesnt

    fakesmile (March 8, 2002)

What's the use of your hate talk? Are you with the KKK or something, hating everyone, who's in you opinion wrong or has bad taste. Arrogant fool.

    Awesome album by the way!

    Anonymous (February 11, 2002)

Fuck you all. You're all stupid. Rancid isn't streetpunk. Have you ever heard streetpunk? Fuck you. And Rancid ISNT ska numbfuck. Listen to their frist two albums, and then half of "...And Out Come The Wolves" and then the release from 2000. Fuck I hate you all. Get your shit straight. The corn from the peanuts you fuckers. Streetpunk is stuff like the Casualties and the Unseen and Blanks 77. Ska is stuff like the Specials and Selector. No Doubt is just shit and I hope whoever like them dies. And Operation Ivy is like ska/punk. Like the the Wolves album by Rancid. It's clearly some ska punk and punk. There's nothing else to it. Fuck. You people are soo stupid. How about you go ask Joey Shithead for his autograph and hopefully get your ass kicked and thrown in a dumpster.

-One of the FEW who knows what theyre talking abouton this board.

    Kurtpunkskacheese (February 2, 2002)

I am a huge rancid fan and this album compared to there older stuff blows. Sure it has some really good tunes but the thing is so over produced. I dont mind Life wont wait it is one of my favoriter rancid albums but this just dosent cut it in terms of full radness.

    Anonymous (December 7, 2001)

After hearing the song "1998", I almost instantly bought this album. I was expecting something much darker, and I was kinda disappointed at first. However, it has recently become one of my fsvorite albums ever. What were the singles, anyway?

    Anonymous (November 29, 2001)

what? rancid is not a ska band you idiot, and do not deserve to be grouped with other shitty ska bands like No Doubt. Operation Ivy was a ska band. they were great. Rancid is a punk band that started playing some ska songs on this album.

i'm confused...where the hell did the argument about the sex pistols come from? anyway...this album is amazing. it very much deserves a perfect score. I just realized i've been too generous with my scores.

    Anonymous (September 28, 2001)

you people are idiots. he IS saying matt freeman is great, that it was a slap in the face to wannabes. fuck.

    Anonymous (August 20, 2001)

10/10 the best of rancid and the best they will ever make.By the way your a dumb fuck Matt Freeman is one of the best bassists around dipshit!

    Anonymous (July 9, 2001)

Rancids greatest album ever, and they will unfortunately never get back to where they were!

    Rioteer (June 28, 2001)

I think that this is Rancid's best album.

    Anonymous (June 2, 2001)

The album speaks for itself. Listen and be converted.

    Anonymous (June 2, 2001)

    Fucking amazing.

    Anonymous (May 29, 2001)

I've only got one thing to say: this is the greatest album ever recorded by anybody.

    Anonymous (May 26, 2001)

Though the album isn't down and out hardcore punk, it is a masterpiece. Just like Clash's London Calling. Great songwritting, mixes of many genres, talent, energy, passion, and inspiration.

    jockyfa (April 11, 2001)

Well, sarcasm is a canadian thing... it was an attempt to comment on his ability. To err is human. All I'm doing is getting the albums out there for comment, and it seems to be working - I insight hostility in you and reproach from others. Kind of funny... Couple notes on some of what you and others have said... the Stooges were nothing more than a rock cover band until much LATER in their career. The Clash came to America riding the wave that the Pistols created. The Pistols, although seekers of fame and fortune, also brought punk to a whole new audience (America) who never DID embrace the Ramones or Iggy (perhaps until Trainspotting). Never Mind the Bollocks has sold more copies than ALL of the ramones albums combined... is this sad, yes sir. Is it true... yes sir. It's so funny that the occassional error, instead of being nicely corrected, is attacked as a gap in sensibility. If you're an angry person I should think the Sex Pistols are right up your alley, and Slayer, COC - Sinead O'Conner. Ramones, NY Dolls, basically, anything american and derivative is about celebrating life and our power to manipulate it. If Joey had to deal with people like you no wonder he wanted to be sedated. Relax, and thanks for the constructive parts of the criticism - no thanks for the attitude. - jockyfa (not a punk, just a music person)

what the fuck youre an idiot. Normally it wouldnt be so bad but i see mistakes in every single one of you reviews. Useless ID are from Israel, and the bassist from Rancid ( even though I dont really like them ) is one of the best bassists in punk music today.
