this record sounds like it was made in the bottom of a sinking ship. it is clearly the last effort from a band that sees its own demise quickly approaching. i love it. Amazing. haha..i usually hate people who comment on other people's comments...but seriously now?...give up the ghost? ..haha..to each his own i guess. no one strings together four chords like them i suppose. fuck you. sorry! not Equal Vision's bet release. Pretty good CD but I take it back. GUTG's is better. It's one of those discs that you really need to listen to for a WHILE to get into. It could grow on you like it did with me, but it sure as hell isn't a masterpiece, which is one thing this one follows in the footsteps of "If they move...". Trial By Fire is the most underrated band ever. That big dude from Trial By Fire would whoop this big dude's ass. using the vocabulary was more like a symbol of the increased complexity of fairweather's song...but however you want to see it, you see it... are you stupid? i never said that fat people can't make good music... you should fucking learn how to read. i said that it is fucking hilarious that the singer of this band is a fat guy with a high voice. it is silly. you should eat a big fat dick. using this kind of vocabulary just for the sake of sounding intelligent is pointless. and it was used just for the sake of sounding intelligent and not to make the review any clearer or more expressive. Decent record, I like it a lot more than "if they move...". They've matured and actually know how to write rockin' songs. nice green grass... I agree that this CD isn't anything real special. In fact "If they move..." wasnt the masterpiece either. ramo: black cross. yes. i was thinking of reviewing it but i'm too lazy. maybe sometime soon. yep, i'm retarded, you got me there. Ok, ok, ok, I apologize really I do. My mistake you're not fat. I shouldn't shoot my mouth off like that. I know I did call you fat, but I also called you a goddamn retard. I think it’s weird that you only disputed the fact that you're not fat. So it’s pretty easy for a non educated moron like me to make a logical assumption that you are in fact a goddamn retard. So goddamn retard I really do apologize for calling you fat. But goddamn retard I do not apologize for your retard-like comparisons. Even if it is just a bridge, YOU DO NOT compare shit like this to Pink Floyd. That would be your bad. But I do have to thank you for something. Now my ears know what child birth feels like. Goddamn retard. ok that didn't seem to type out too well. first you do . thats what i was trying to say to Anonymous guy (oh wait...that's half the board), you close out your font option with a . i know next-to-nothing about html, but just from this site I've learned a few basic things like that. just a tidbit of info so you don't have to boldface more than you wanted. Shit, I'm gainin a little weight, but it's from beer, not fast food! damn, I thought my coke problem would take care of my weight 'problem'... sorry but I don't think this is the best equal vision release of 2003. listen to black cross before you say something like that. oh wait..i understand now...im really not smart lets get that straight " Good review, though you could have saved a lot of the time spent typing out big words by just writing "I am smarter than you." " just addressing a couple things because i know a lot of people on this site hate me. jeez stop hatin yo. I'll talk shit about fattys. Stay indoors please. Seriously seeing you bums me out. It hits home that most of America looks like you. Out here in California lard asses aren't as common as say, Michigan. And when I see one of you waddling down the street it makes me think of the future. A future where hot sluts are ridiculed because of how skinny they are. A future not unlike planet of the apes, but with tubby people. Skinny people will be caged and taunted while land monsters "walk" freely down the street to find more food. Also you sweat too much and you smell like fried chicken if the sun hits you. I don't like you. How fucking dare you compare boy band shit like this to Pink Fucking Floyd? Take that fucking glue out of you nose. Even if you’re only comparing parts of this music, its still blasphemy. That’s like comparing Beethoven to Mannheim Steamroller. Goddamn retard. I hate you to. You're probably fat. Go fuck yourself; Reviewer: We've all read your other reviews. You're REALLY not smart enough to use impressive language. Write it straight-forward next time. Please. Christ. Good review, though you could have saved a lot of the time spent typing out big words by just writing "I am smarter than you." being fat has nothing to do with the music, and i'm not talking shit about fat people. i just find the fact that he is rather large and bearded, while his voice is so high to be pretty fuckin silly. "in related news, my mother has a blind student with ADD, and i said 'or DDA to him'. I thought it was funny. blind people are." I love fairweather for their spirit, and thats why I love the first album. They were young, pissed off, honest and they f*ckin rocked out the whole time. They didnt give a crap who thought they were emo, cause they were too busy going off. The Brian McTernan recording helped a lot too, because it captured the energy. As far as the new album, I dont really like the new drummer and new guitarist. The lyrics are also pretty mediocre. Most of all, its not fairweather. This album doesnt show off an evolved sound, it shows a completely DIFFERENT sound. The albums pretty good, but its just not fairweather. I don't get it. What does being fat have to do with the music in ANY way? http://www.fairweatherva.com/photos/novarupta7/32.jpg i think this is well written... it is a fucking chill album. its definitely a lot more inspired and creative than first record. i'm not saying it was a bad record, but it wasn't anything too thoughtful. actually the cover makes me want to buy some nice cheeba. then maybe i will like this band, then again.... I really admire the cover artwork, as it really interprets the genuine quiddity of this album. Step on it; it's trash. as a long time fan i cant say i dislike the alblum but i was really hopping for something moving in a bit harder of a direction after alaska. the 4 tracks of that alblum probably would have made better on a full lenght i think the makeup of the ep is kind of confusing. but as for lusitania its a solid release better than most stuff of its kind but it shouldnt be turning any heads either I streamed it and really liked it. I'd like to check out the lyrics a little further before buying it, but so far, from what I've heard, it will be in my collection when I get my next paycheck As a fan of this band and huge fan of the Alaska ep i have to say this is boring. I think it's funny how so many people came down on The Mars Volta for bieng boring and not this. i mean 1195, Derivitive Opener, all the long fadeouts. And the title track has too many false endings. There is a lot of padding on this disc that should have been a lenghty EP. I mean there are good songs in there but you have to sludge through so much filler... ahem, i meant i hated there first albums, but i also like the new albums for all the reasons the 'fans' hate the new ones. maybe im strange, but i hated both fairweather and brand news first records for all the reasons the 'fans' are hating there second records. I'm glad the bad pop punk is gone, and the shitty saves the day crap is out of there systems. thus, i like both 2nd albums by both bands even though I distinctly recall hating them both very much prior. Hmm, I'm listening to Coalesce right now and that band needs to get back together. i still say this band does nothing for me. it's funny how they pick that title seeing as both the title and the band are tragedies. from the fucking idiot up top on this post. " "music critics and fans alike can agree" implies that this record has been out for a while and has had a lot of people weigh in on it. Isnt this a new release? " I like this album, but not nearly as much as "If they move..." Maybe it will grow on me some more. But the energy in this one is more subdued, and that was a big part of what made Fairweather good, both on disc and live. I really thought they would go with more of an "Alaska" vibe on this one. But like I said, I do enjoy "Lusitania." The instrumentation is good, and the songs flow together incredibly. But this isn't rockin' out type music. It's music to listen to while driving on a rainy day or to play while you are reading a text book for school, whereas their previous albums were appropriate for everything. I just couldn't see listening to this one while I was on my way to play basketball on a sunny Sunday afternoon. This CD (for me) did the opposite for me that Deja Entendu did. The score is for the record. Good stuff, but I expected something more aggressive after 'Alaska'. "music critics and fans alike can agree" implies that this record has been out for a while and has had a lot of people weigh in on it. Isnt this a new release? jeez, you can tell the reviewer likes emo just by the way he writes...... For once I agree with something BSD says, this band is a snorefest. I thought this record was horribly mediocre. It was just a boring cd to listen to. I was seriously disappoinred. Hahaha... Only a guy with an SN like yours could like this. I don't know about the CD, but this album makes for one boring live show. I could care less if they know real chords, they're boring as fuck and suck at writing songs. |
