I can assume that most of you know who NOFX is, love them or hate them. For me, they were one of the first punk bands that I liked. They helped get me away from the KROQ crap that I used to listen to and on to things that were much better. When I bought this, it was like a light turning on. It made music fun again, at least at the time. Since then, my musical tastes have changed and I listen to different things. Yet somehow, this album still seems to find it’s way into my CD player every now and again. This release is probably one of the best albums NOFX has released, but I don’t think it’s one of the punk albums ever. This album is good because it avoids what I think is one of the downfalls of the most recent NOFX album and that is getting overly political. Musically, the album is very sound and has good instrumentation. The songs on this record are well written and have lyrics that talk about life and taking humorous slants on topics such as stereotyping and hippie punks. Songs like Linoleum and The Brews describe Fat Mike’s ideal way of life and make light hearted jabs at being Jewish. The album has a good flow to it and features many memorable songs, such as Reeko, Don’t Call me White, and Perfect Government (wasn‘t Mark Curry the guy on Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper?). Good? Yes, but not perfect. One of the problems I have with this album is that there are memorable songs, but there are also forgettable songs as well that I find myself consistently skipping over. Songs like My heart is yearning and The Happy Guy just don’t do anything for me. After a while, these songs also fall in to the trap of being NOFX songs and can feel repetitive. Here is a quote from NOFX’s most recent album, The War on Errorism When did punk rock become so safe, I know it wasn’t Duane or Fletcher, who put up the barricades. You’re right Fat Mike, it wasn’t either of them. It was you. This album got a lot of people into the punk scene and made it more accessible and far reaching than it was before. This album is an inspiration for many of today’s punk bands and for good reason. At the time, it was outstanding and it still is, to a point. But I just don’t think it holds up as well as it used to.

Absolutely motherfucking timeless classic of a goddamn album. Da best. How did the cat get so fat? Every fucking song on this album is fantastic! i love this album! this is the very first cd i bought from NOFX. love it, love it, love it. this cd is the reason i love them! Whatever genere you want to say this is, it's one of NoFx's better ones I'd say (after white trash)...some good songs like linoleum and happy guy has a good point to it if you listen to the lyrics... This is good NOFX it is fast and ska the music is great they actually know what there doing on this one this is the bands best album [or one of the best]the singing is anoying but good better than WOE which sucked if i were you i would get it but im not you so i can only recomend it This is good NOFX it is fast and ska the music is great they actually know what there doing on this one this is the bands best album [or one of the best]the singing is anoying but good better than WOE which sucked if i were you i would get it but im not you so i can only recomend it what ? http://www.casino-los-angeles.com/doliyoli/casino-directory-2005. html I love me some NOFX! ...Reeko, try and understand....it really is that bad...it wont just go away! I uh......she probably won't see this...but I hope she does...Janelle...if you think blink-182 is fucking punk you need to shoot yerself in the head and (if yer still alive) keep breathing so i can come over there and kick you...I think blink's alright and all but "punk"? try "whiny pop punk"...god... i missed the hwole punk scence by a good deceade or so, (im 16), but NOFX are one of my greatest bands of all time. Along with most of their contemporaries. A fuck off dudes who hates these album. Whahahaha. Especialy that guy who hates Rancid, because that ugly osbourne chick is in one off there video's. My answer: WHO THE FUCK CARES. Only motherfucker idols dudes. Worst review ever!!!! dude i can't believe you write for interpunk. ::graynoise. Net Rancid sucks, they let the good charlotte asswipe and that stupid osbourne chick in their video. Weak! "I personally think this is one of the best punk albums of all time so I going to be biased. "Anyone who DOESNT respect these guys musically, clearly does not play nor know anything about writing music, as this band is easily one of the most musically talented "punk" bands." To the asshole who wrote: I wonder if any of the losers in this band have ever looked in the mirror....and thought to themselves: "what the hell have I done with my life? Im 40 years old with pink hair and I dress like a 13 year old. Thats a coincedence because no one over the age of 13 respects me." Now if only Rancid would come through our town on something other than (ugh) Warped Tour, I may gain some respect for them... But probably not, seeing as they aren't that good (on CD at least) and support the worst of the worst of this new pop-band fake rebellion bull shit... Saw Rancid last night. Pretty darn good actually. They restored my faith in them. I personally think this is one of the best punk albums of all time so I going to be biased. Thats a bull shit theory anyway... The only 18 year olds who still worship crappy pop punk would either have to be bandwagoners or jackasses who never looked into punks roots... I'm over 18 and I think they're retards. i consider blink182 punk. you'd be surprised how many other people would agree with me on that who are over 18. To be honest, nothing of any importance ever gets to the public. It's all preaching to the converted. The first few bands around, I love it (Crass, Discharge, etc.), but there comes a time when it's just crap... I already know about most of the stuff bands preach about, as does most of their audience... Some LEGIT band needs to get hugely popular and just destroy this new wave of feel good music... Punk's been safe for twenty years. "your a fucking idiot how is fat mike making punk rock safe when hes the only one writing lyrics that mean something. like hes talking shit about the president that dosent seem to safe to me." Seriously, who considers Blink 182 real punk? Are we kidding ourseleves, gateway drug my ass! this band should be killed. they are a bunch of un-positive druggie losers this band should be killed. they are a bunch of un-positive druggie losers your a fucking idiot how is fat mike making punk rock safe when hes the only one writing lyrics that mean something. like hes talking shit about the president that dosent seem to safe to me. "The fact that the 'music' these losers create never evolved into anything other than three chords and machine gun drumming shows that they never matured as musicians or people.....pretty fucking pathetic!" yep, i like happy guy too. good song wow, i haven't listened to this record in 3 years. thanks for the refresher, i guess. The fact that the 'music' these losers create never evolved into anything other than three chords and machine gun drumming shows that they never matured as musicians or people.....pretty fucking pathetic! I like Happy Guy! My favourite Nofx album would be either White Trash or ribbed. Max and Lib are godawful. Their best EP was.....THE DECLINE. This review became annoying when you said "they've gotten too political" Yes, she nubs, mediocre and anarchy camp are huge social critiques seriously folks, blink 182 INVENTED the genre. BSD...BSD...BSD... Hahahaha. The greatest punk album ever is "And Out Come the Wolves"... We ALL know that, J!!! "PID is for me one of the best PUNK ROCK record ever made, i've through a lot of different stuff but this is the shit." Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz-old punker- "Hey Cocksucker... This CD came out like 3 years ago. We dont need your review now. Sorry that you just discovered NOFX last week. douchebag" one of the first 5 punk albums i owned, along w/ dookie, and out come the wolves. probably nofx's best, less funny than the more recent material, and less political.this is about where they peaked as musicians and fat mike as a songwriter, although they branced out more w/ ska and slower tempos on the newer stuff.hard to argue linoleum isnt their best song. a must have for punk fans, along w/ op ivy energy, and out come the wolves, no control, dookie london calling etc etc etc Hey Cocksucker... This CD came out like 3 years ago. We dont need your review now. Sorry that you just discovered NOFX last week. douchebag Hey Cocksucker... This CD came out like 3 years ago. We dont need your review now. Sorry that you just discovered NOFX last week. douchebag i fell in love with PUNK ROCK music about 10 years ago when i first i heard the song LINOLEUM. and to day im still and more into that kind of music. PID is for me one of the best PUNK ROCK record ever made, i've through a lot of different stuff but this is the shit...long life for NOFX and long life for PUNK ROCK...kepp rockin' baby!!! one my favorite cds. this one definitely got me into punk rock. "This is the guy from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes side-project right? did we all forget about so long and thanks for the shoes? that cd it 10 times better than PID. way more diverse. faster punk and ska too. nofx rules anyhow they are respectable popish-punk w/ real punk lyrics. like rancid id say. or sex pistols first of all why are you reviewing this album? yeah..I'm oblivious...whatever...NOFX has been a integral part of the scene. Sure Fat Mike may have some views that people dont agree with and sure some of the songs arent really serious...but you know sometimes you gotta laugh at all the shit that goes on in this world. Its a fucked up place and a little bit of sattire and humor never hurt anything.I'm just sick and fucking tired of hearing people bash this band. Fat Mike has run the band and the label with a DIY ethic...they have never sold out. The fact that they've become so big is testament to how good they really are...getting big without any mainstream radio airplay or videos on mtv... this album even went gold...And thanks to fat we've been introduced to a bunch of awesome bands, Strung Out, Lagwagon, Snuff...just to name a few...id even be willing to bet that you punker than thou fucks were probably turned on to punk by these guys and are for some stupid reason too ashamed to admit it..you suddenly became too punk rock for you're own good...I always thought punk was about conveying a message..and sure nofx doesnt always convey it seriously, but you have to give them credit, whether you agree with them or not...it seems like they've been supporting causes more actively and publicly. The PETA comp, punkvoter.com, the rock against bush tour and compilation...I've even started to see interviews in magazines. Nofx is at least doing something and getting their message out there...Maybe i'm oblivious...but I know when to give credit where credit is due..and Nofx deserves a lot of it. This album made punk rock safer. It was less offensive and more acceptable. and no..nofx is still around yes..that makes perfect sense..send them bullets because you know how NOFX is so pro-gun...fucking douche bag This band should be killed. They should all be mailed guns with one bullet in them. i heard NOFX broke up. . .is this true? i like nofx and all. but the first 'punk' cd, i ever heard was dude ranch by blink....it was such a gateway drug How did Fat Mike make punk rock more accessible? Let's see...they never signed to a major label, never put videos on MTV...love em or hate em, NOFX never sold out and for that I respect them. Point of clarification: I was referring to the author's arguments, not Fat Mike's regarding the barricades. (And it's not about barricades at shows...) Barricades between the crowd and bands at punk shows? Just a guess... "Here is a quote from NOFX’s most recent album, The War on Errorism When did punk rock become so safe, I know it wasn’t Duane or Fletcher, who put up the barricades. it s amazing how hardcore kids have become. anyways, i remember buying this record when it came out, it was good stuff, but then heavy petting zoo came out and i lost interest in these guys. but in the time between the releaseof white trash and the release of Petting Zoo, i enjoyed NOFX, and i still own everything before that zoo record and every now and then ill put one in. i guess im not hardcore enough. but i think ribbed and S&M airlines are the funnest records. I wonder if any of the losers in this band have ever looked in the mirror....and thought to themselves: "what the hell have I done with my life? Im 40 years old with pink hair and I dress like a 13 year old.Thats a coincedence because no one over the age of 13 respects me." good, I thought this was the begining of the end for NOFX. I'd call "Ribbed" and "White Trash" their best, probably the two albums by these guys i can listen to through and through. With "Punk in Drublic" they started to put together some very forgetable songs, uninteresting lyrically and musically. They bland-ass Ryan Greene production also does them no favors either (Donnell Cameron's White Trash sounds eons better). They've had a few bright spots here and there since .. the Decline comes to mind... heavy petting zoo wins for me. Only album by NOFX i like. Concerning the best NOFX album, in my opinion I'd give the nod to "The War On Errorism". Its also up there on my list of favorite albums to come out this year. Might be the best nofx album... to answer the Mark Curry Question..this is from the Nofx website in the Q & A section. even though most people that visit this site know this cd, the review was pretty bad... This is the guy from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes side-project right? the first NOFX cd that I heard was White trash.... one of my friends got it when it first came out...I liked it, it was funny...but didnt really understand what I was hearing..I didnt really know about "punk"..I was only 12 and i had grown up pretty sheltered in a christian school...fast forward to '94...Green Day drops dookie...I win a copy from some radio station...I listen to it and I'm blown away...I wanted more...so I went to the local record store and I saw this gem sitting on the new release shelf..I remembered the name and was like..they had that funny song about bob, So I picked it up and a whole new world was opened up to me...This was one of those albums that changed my life... this is a pretty good cd, it suffers from the classic nofx flaw of making you want to skip tracks, but not as much as many of the other cds... certainly a classic I sold all my NOFX records except this one, good stuff haha i hate it when people correct grammar unless its truly awful, but i couldn't help but chuckle at the statement that this album This CD is probably the most inflencial CDs of my life. It roped me in when I was in 6th grade; I know all the songs on it so well. I still play it, even though I never listen to "punk" anymore. this is not one of the best punk albums ever, but it is one of the big classics. this did get most of the kids that are into punk now, i know it got me. however, i have never considered offspring or green day as punk bands. i just though of them as just some more bands for alternative radio. even when i was 12. nofx was a breakaway from that for me. Just out of curiosity, the comment from "War On Errorism", is he referring to Duane Peters and Fletcher Dragge? fat mike is a retard. Best nofx album ever. Leave the politics to fox news! ha you're all stupid democrats w/ their head in their butt Mark Curry was the guy from "Hangin With Mr. Cooper" and he was on "Don't Forget Your Toothbrush." I can't help but think it was a different Mark Curry that wrote Perfect Government greatest album name Pretty goodish record... Not that great, but fun enough. Has a few really good songs, the rest are what would be recognized now as standard pop-punk... this record is amazing but i cant help but wonder...why review it NOW?! everyone already has their own opinion on it. seems like a waste of time. how can you say that a downfall of this nofx is that they get over political. for christs sake this site should be called emonews.org yes, this record, "Let's Go", Offspring's "Smash", and "Dookie" did kinda start that "punk revival" thing... I'm not a NOFX fan myself, I actually despise much of their music (including parts of this album), but I do recognize how much NOFX has contributed to a community worldwide. And yeah, it's not like this stuff is salvation by audio or anything, but as the reviewer points out, this album probably turned a lot of people onto interesting and alternative music, which I would say is a good thing. my 3rd least favorite nofx disc. coming in 1st and 2nd are s&m airlines and maximum rock and roll. def one of the best punk albums ever, for the simple fact that it got so many people, just like our reviewer, into punk rock when it came out. Just like dookie by green day, its def a classic. Look at how many fucking kids got into punk through green day, probally a lot wouldnt admit it, but we all know that its true. Not to mention this album is just pure unadulturated good fucking music from start to finish. I'll agree with the reviewer and say that this disc opened doors to music I would have otherwise never heard. "Tied with White Trash for best Nofx disc." Wow this hasn't been reviewed yet?! The Brews and Linoleum, ya hey Forgettable songs? No. This album is a modern day classic. Tied with White Trash for best Nofx disc. Where's the [2]? | Features
