Once regarded as hardcore pioneers, in the late 80's the Circle Jerks seemed to fade away along with every other great band from their era. They released 2 albums, 1985's Wonderful and 1987's VI, to poor reviews, and with that seemed to disappear completely off the radar, except for a few 10th anniversary shows that were later released as the live Gig album in 1992. Then came the neo-punk explosion of the mid-90's thanks to bands like Green Day and the Offspring. It is doubtful anyone really knew, or even cared that around this time, the Circle Jerks had been back together working on new material. They were quickly picked up by Mercury records to record their major label debut Oddities, Abnormalities, and Curiosities.

"Mercury dropped the Circle Jerks after this record, and put it out of print, making it nearly impossible to find." Good, not great. i saw them last year in guelph ontario. one of the best shows of my life I enjoy this album, but I wouldn't give it four stars. Three at the most i was hoping this review would just serve as a warning not to buy this album. unless you find it in a dollar bin maybe. but even then... I like Golden Shower... better than Wild in the Streets, but I listen to Group Sex almost every day. Wild in the streets/ Group sex are best...though this is not bad alltogether this album is out of print and hard to get??? i picked it up super cheap. wan't that impressed but still its better than any of these new emo pop punk bands that are a dime a dozen these days. Score is for Greg Hetson, 'cause he's a cool guy!! Oh yeah, this be tha shit. yeah but the group sex/wild in the street package cd wasn't even sanctioned by the band... I have a copy but i also have the newly reissued porterhouse stuff too decent review for a good album, although this record doesn't come close to the group sex/wild in the streets package cd. who still has theirs? i like the 'IV' album. I could care less about there first record, the 2nd was better, and they've never stopped getting better. i like gig too. thats all i got. WOW what the hell is wrong with you people... this band rules... this album is a bit iffy, BUT everyone should own Group Sex and Wild in the Streets... "Instead, fans were offered 12 low-fi slow-tempo rock songs." score is for that faggot scott. I never really liked the cicle jerks... |
