I just can't figure out this band. The first track "3 Weeks In" is a slower, more experimental rocker reminiscent at times of The Mars Volta type breakdowns with dissonant guitar work. The chorus sounds Incubus-ish. The vocals are unique and pleasing after you get used to them. Overall, not a bad track, but nothing that really grabs me.

Next is a piano laden cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Never a huge fan of the song (I just prefer Lennon's writing to Harrison's [if you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to buff up on your rock n' roll history]) I have to say that this band does a good job of making the song their own. It breaks down into another log guitar solo section like the first track and eventually fades into the third track...

...which is an acoustic song. Sort of. It's acoustic guitar, but still has a bass and drums. It sounds like the first song in the way it's written but the acoustic guitar sounds unnatural for the song. Kind of reminds me of a Staind song. Boo-urns.

What makes everything confusing is the last track on this album, which essentially is just a bad punk song complete with three chord breakdown chorus and fast punk beat. It sounds terrible and nothing like any of their other stuff. I can't believe how formulated it is. Just terrible.

Song length averages six minutes on this record. It's got nice cover art. It's just...not very good music overall. They're not talented enough to try the guitar breakdowns that they do. It sounds very tired.

    I cannot wait to hear the full album. Beatles covers are hard to do, and this cover is done well. Saw these guys live and they are great. I like the acoustic song, the guitar work is amazing, and I am not a fan of the last song. I agree also that this album is a promotional tool, and it works for me. I will be at the store to buy the new LT album when it is released. Also, I am very luke warm on Suburban Home records' roster, but this is a new kind of band for them, and I like that they are opening it up as a label a little. I expect big things from this band.

    actually it's awful, not just bad. if it's clear it's a single, than write that into your review.

    as for that lame, pretentious comment you inserted in there, i disagree, if you don't know who lennon or harrison are, who cares...

    those who don't, there's probably not many among the readers can care and listen to what they want. yes, knowing who the beattles are is pretty rudimentary stuff to most music fans, however i don't see why it's important to know about if you don't. i know the beattles, i like the beattles and i never listen to them, so if some kid doesn't either and doesn't know who they are it's not the end of the world.

    get off your pedestal.

    I think it's pretty aparent that it's a single when in the liner notes it says "3 Weeks In off of upcoming full length." The fact that the last two tracks are an acoustic and a throw away track doesn't mean they suck any less. A bad song is a bad song, no matter how you look at it. Don't like my review? Write your own!

    I'm criticizing you because you don't know anything about the band you are reviewing. This album is a single. It was released for the sole purpose of marketing Three Weeks In. The second song is, as you noted, a cover. The third song is an acoustic version of a song on their full length. Since I don't know you, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you forgot to mention that in your review. The fourth song was, as another put it, a "throw away" from their first EP nearly two years ago. The song isn't great, but if I'm paying for the cd, why not put some more music on there?

    Even though I may not know you, it's pretty evident you had no idea about this band until you got this cd in the mail. Get off your high horse and stop telling preaching that people need to know this and that about music when you don't even know anything about the cd you are reviewing.

    Yet, you criticize me without knowing me either...funny how that works...I agree with Pastepunk, first two songs are pretty good. The reason why I made the statement wasn't to sound pretentious. Believe you me, there are a lot of 15 year old shitheads running around on this site who don't know these things. If you know who Lenon and Harrison are (which I hope to fucking God you do) then no harm done. If you don't, then you need to go learn more about music before stating any opinion.

    first of all, that's the most pretentious thing i've ever heard in my life

    second of all, its the fucking beatles...you are not a genius for knowing who they are

    third, it was john lennon and paul mccartney who wrote most of the songs together...john only wrote a small selection of beatles songs on his own, as did george harrison
