In a time where the "newest' stuff is glorified and ignorance is a common trait amongst America's youth. We find ourselves searching for something new all the time. In the punk scene we are surrounded by bands who constantly re-invent themselves and others belt out recycled garbage. Bands are held on a golden pedestal and reach "god-like" stature, and often times there are other CD's that just get over-looked by people who really don't care or know anything, except about listening to what everyone else listens to. In 1992 Lagwagon put out it's debut album enititled Duh. This is in my opinion one of the best CD's in punk rock. Lagwagon has a raw sound that echoes throughout cd. Standout tracks being: "Tragic Vision", "Bury the Hatchet", "Stop Whining", and the cover track "Bad Moon Rising". There isn't much else that you could say about this CD other than it was the dawn of Lagwagon. So for all of you searching for something new and different...maybe you should go back to the beginning. I always thought Lagwagon was a bit of a boring band, then i heard Duh. Holy shit! This is quality right the way through. Angry Days is probably my favourite on this. My favourite Lagwagon album. sooo good. All their albums are great My least favorite Lagwagon album....thats saying nothing though, because there my favorite band. The guy below doesnt know wwhat hes talking about. Mr Coffee and Bear Goggles are two CLASSIC Lagwagon songs, i think the worst song on the cd is the cover of Bad Moon Rising though. Really good cd, shows Lagwagon's early sound (rough, in a good way) with alot of influences from Fat Mike. IF your just getting in to LW, try trashed or double plaidnum, my two favs from them, btu hell there all so fuckign great. check out www.obviouslyavi.freeservers.com and chdeck out the deep elm band Red Animal War Could have been Lagwagon's best, if it wasn't of some shitty songs (Bad moon rising, Beer Goggles, Mr. Coffee...). Yeah... it's amazing how pissed they were on this CD and on "Let's Talk About Feelings" they've gotten much more happy. It's a real great album. That is the most fucking ridiculous review I have ever read. Best CD's in punk rock my ass. It hardly even clarifies as punk rock! Lagwagon is one of the best bands ever. Notice I didn't just say "punk bands ever" because to label Lagwagon in the genre of punk music is an insult to the band. a true classic, though Hoss has always been my favorite, this was my first lagwagon CD, and i love it more to this day then I did the day I got it. I've been on the fence with my feelings towards these guys for about 8 years now. I liked "Duh" when it came out, but listening to it now I just don't know. Suprisingly, I think "Hoss" is my favorite. I remember I was 13 when the CD came out. And it was on this new label that had just been started up by mike from NOFX..so my first initial thought was..oh no, a NOFX ripoff band..but that wasnt the case at all. This CD quickly became my favorite out of the 20 or so punk cds i had at the time. And is still in my top 10 today. If you live in central arkansas or something and havent discovered lagwagon, get this CD or trashed...the 2 best in my opinion LAGWAGON rules, and so does the song lagwagon. that's my theme song. bury the hatchet, and angry days....awesome songs...awesome cd considering the year it was released....will lagwagon ever release a new cd? Im from calgary, edmonton licks. but DUH rocks. i got this cd after all the other lagwagon cds and was amazed to find that it is just as perfect. This was one of my first punk rock albums. I remember I bought it at Sonix when I was 12, cause it was the only cd there I could afford. Little did I know that this would be the album that would introduce me to a whole genre of great music. I haven't listened to this album for a long, long time, but seeing this review has brought back such memories for me. Fuck Yah! This album, along with That first Burning heart sampler are what got me into the punk. Noble End is still up there on my "top ten songs to sing when I'm drunk and walking down Whyte Ave with a bunch of equally drunk friends" List. The rest of the album is wicked too... Except the inspector gadget song... Thats kind of annoying. Since its only a few seconds long, it can be forgiven. |
