It probably would be easy to expect a bit of drop off for Unearth, one of the many fine Boston metal/hardcore bands. The band's 2001 full-length The Stings of Conscience was one of the better releases in the genre, well...ever. A stint on the Headbanger's Ball Tour and a new label (from Eulogy to Metal Blade) could signal some changes for the band. Maybe a little in this case, but with The Oncoming Storm, the band has somehow vaulted themselves to a higher level. if you like the cd get a real taste of this band at one of their shows. best show ive been to yet. this is such a cool album. the metal gods smile on Unearth i liked the older version of Endless better. the china is louder and more dramatic in the earlier version, and on Oncoming Storm you barely notice it :( Umm, this guy directly below me is a douchebag. The new Atreyu cd is fucking horrible. Unearth fucking owns them and it's a real shame that those faggots are outheadlining not only Unearth this March, but fucking Norma Jean. That is ridiculous. I hope those little 12 year old girls in Atreyu shirts get a motherfucking spin kick to the back of the head. This is quite an album. atreyu is not on the same catagory as unearth you fuck anyone out there thinking that this band isnt the shit......Take the dicks out of your ears and listin again....UNEARTH has truely unearthed with this new cd...BREAKDOWN! Best Breakdowns I've ever heard. Pure Genious. I don't care if you like country, your going to bang your head off the end of track 1 & 3, end of track 8 and all of track 11. My Heart bleeds no Longer on the first album is still the best song i've ever heard. There are a lot of bands out now saturating the market with half-ass hardcore/metal thats more influenced by emo than Agnostic Front. Unearth is definitely an exception, these boys have done a great job of mixing thrash with hardcore. All their albums including this one remind me why I love metal. Highly recomend this band to anyone who loves old thrash and NYHC. ok let me get some things off my chest As good as killswitch engage album Replace the vaguely hardcore sounding singer with a European screamer and morbid lyrics and this would be straight up metal. There's no need for track #9 and they totally ruined Endless! one word can describe this album: good stuff, atreyu is good too. when does the new it dies today come out!?!?!?! Good album... they didn't sellout. Lets just say, they lived up to the hype of this cd. I was really looking forward to this album, but it didn't blow me away. It's still a cut above the rest of the bands in this genre, but hardly the amazing album I expected. hands down one of the best albums of the year Yeah, I laughed my ass off at that wonderful Atreyu comment. "Hey guys...we're hardcore! Oh, we're not? Well, at least we dress cool." this shit sucks. go get the new atreyu I like this album. It didn't blow me away like "The Stings of Conscience" did but it's good nonetheless. I just wish they didn't have to put "Endless" in there. It was already good on the EP.
