Reagan Youth (not to be mistaken with L.A.'s Wasted Youth) were one of the finest hardcore punk bands to ever hail from NYC. The band formed in 1980 and disbanded with Reagan's exit from office; their story is a sad and tragic one, probably the most tragic in punk rock. But that's another story...on to the record.

This is a posthumous compilation of Reagan Youth's greatest material, the first half being from their earlier, more hardcore-oriented releases and the final half being from their later, more metallic releases. There are 22 tracks in all, including the classics "Jesus Was A Communist," "USA," and of course, "Reagan Youth." Just looking at the cover of this album pretty much explains the lyrical content, that being anti-racism/facism and other similar, refreshing themes. My personal favorite tracks would have to be "One Holy Bible" or "Queen Of Babylon," both from the band's slightly more metallic years.

If you've never had a chance to pick up a record by Reagan Youth, this is the one to get, as it's a good taste of their entire catalog. This album is, obviously, essential listening for any fan of punk rock. Their vocalist, Dave Insurgent, has a distinct and tuneful voice that is rare in this kind of music, and the band members themselves are easily some of the most talented and skilled musicians in punk rock.

This album is definitely a must-have. Reagan Youth is my favorite band though, so I might be a bit biased. However, I don't think anyone in their right mind can deny that they were great.

Good band, but not great. I really like this album though. Staple punk album. If you were to pick the 100 greatest punk albums of all time, I think this would make the cut.

hmm...if you think you need to look in a dictionary to know what scouring means, perhaps you should take an english class or associate with people smarter than you are (they shouldn't be too hard to find).

"What Will The Neighbors Think?" and "Jesus Was a Communist" are worth the price of admission alone, not to mention "Beautiful Day".

    My Score:

This album's a 5 because only half of it is the good stuff from "Reagan Youth Volume 1"- THAT'S the only Reagan Youth record worth getting because it is a stone cold classic.

Get a record player and get Volume One. Forget Volume Two, that's some stanky shit.

When I saw "Airheads" I was shocked to hear them covering "Degenerated"- that was fucking great! Plus the movie is all around awesome.

"I hate your music and I always have!" [crash]

Wasted Youth had a record called "Reagan's In."

Sometimes, when you search for Reagan Youth, Wasted Youth pops up as well.

So, I believe that is where the "Reagan Youth/ Wasted Youth" reference comes from.

score is for pretty lame review. Dude, fill the white space, you had plenty of room to stretch out, review some actual tracks, and maybe even go into the "tragic story." Also, this disc combines only two albums, not anything more. How you think anything from the metal stuff is better than Degenerated, New Aryans or Reagan Youth (the song) is beyond me. You do get props though, for even reviewing such a good disc.

ok buddy, there was no sarcasm used in my last post...not sure if you know what sarcasm is. i simply stated that reagan youth and wasted youth are different enough names to the point that they shouldnt be confused by anyone.

i wasnt being ironic or witty. if you confused my last post for an attempt at wit, you must not be very smart or have any wits of your own

    "whats the story with them?"

I think that after the band broke up, Dave's hooker girlfriend was one of some serial killer's victims, she was found in the trunk of a car. His mother also killed herself I think (or something like that, she died around the same time), and he got really depressed and killed himself.

Anyone wanna clarify? Oh, yeah, Reagan Youth fucking rocked.
