Nirvana DVD due in November

As the Holiday season draws nearer, so does another another posthumous Nirvana release. This year will see the release of the 1994 concert film Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! on DVD for the first time. It is also the band's first official DVD, aside from a DVD included with the 2004 box set With the Lights Out. The DVD will be remastered and though no specific details have been revealed yet, will feature previously unseen bonus material.

The DVD will be available in stores on November 7.

Why are people acting like this is some new ploy to market Nirvana, it's simply a dvd reissue of an old video that has gone on moratorium, things that are out of print get reissued all of the time!

Whatever, if this was new Mescaleros material or a live clash dvd alot of you would be salivating! I'm not comparing the massive accomplishments of Joe Strummer to Kurt Cobain, nor am I trying to say that Joe's death is equal with Cobain (strummer, of course, didn't kill himself). But, most of the people who complain about posthumous releases and marketing wouldn't be so critical if it were bands you actually liked!

Actually yeah, I'd be critical because it's pretty apparent they're not milking a cash cow, not trying to make some great compilation for the fans. The way these things work is that you think "Wow, that's Nirvana's last release ever" and then another comes along. There is no sense of closure for a band that has not played in over a decade if you keep rereleasing stuff.

Granted, I love The Clash and Joe Strummer, but I think two posthumous releases (And by posthumous, I mean a while after the fact, not immediately following a band's death) are quite enough.

Yes, but this isn't anything new, it's a DVD rerelease of an old vhs, anyone who's really a nirvana fan (or ever was) should know that and not be duped into thinking they're getting unreleased material, I don't see anything wrong about reissuing an out of print video!.

The Nirvana milking isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Officially, theres only been the 2 live albums (unplugged and muddy banks...) and the box set, followed years later by the greatest hits, and then the box set. Considering theres this huge stigma behind Nirvana and how huge and groundbreaking they supposedly were, this is kinda weak. Now, Sublime....theres a band thats REALLY milking it.

Maybe I am a bad person, but I for one, don't mind all the post-humous releases from bands like Nirvana, Sublime, etc.

They are bands I like and I get new material by them, so who cares?

1. I have called 3 of the 4 playoff winners in MLB. If the Cardinals lose, I will be for 4 for 4. Fuck the Cardinals. And the Yankees too, while I'm at it.

2. McNabb sucks.

3. The Colts beat Tennessee by 1 point. I know they're undefeated now, but they can't be for long. Jesus christ. Tennessee is like the worst team in the NFL.

4. Favre needs to hang it up.

I dont like the Eagles, but McNabb sucks? Yeah, he is awful. He is so bad that he only went to NFC championships in his last four actual seasons. And he made it to the Super Bowl without TO. And his team would be 4-0 because of his contributions if the rest of his team didnt fall apart in one quarter of one game. Yeah, he really blows.

The thing about the Colts. On the one hand, they may be the worst 5-0 team ever as they barely beat the Jets and Titans. On the other hand, they have a shit ton of injuries on defense so it is tough to judge them at this point.

I was just watching the game and eating and he made some bad plays so I said he sucks. I didn't mean what you thought I did. He's not that bad, although I've been watching today and I think he's done some stupid things. They could be up right now if he had executed a little more.

And the Colts offense was horrible today too. If you play the Titans, your points should be at least in the 20s. 14 points is pretty bad.

hmm.. i'm going to have to disagree..
they've played GB, Detroit, Minnesota, Buffalo, and Seattle (at Soldier Field, without their deadliest weapon, which makes their offence so goddamn predictable it's not even funny).. they also play SanFran.. Arizona and Miami in the next few weeks..

With the exception of Seattle, those are some of the worst teams in the league, with terrible offences, easily dominated by the Bears' defence.

You wait until they play against the Giants and the Patriots..

Seattle with Alexander and Branch are probably better.

Minnesota beat teams like washington, and carolina.

besides, the Bears cant help it that the teams around them suck. Besides Minnesota, the Bears have DOMINATED every team they have played. Moreover, the Bills were 2-2, but even Lovie Smith said they were the best team they have played so far b/c the Bills could have easily been 4-0

yeah, but without Alexander, they're a one-dimensional team.. he wouldn't of scored 31 points by himself, but you can estabilish a play-action pass that could be lethal..

Right now, there probably isn't a better team.. The Colts can't stop the run worth shit, Carolina is just finding their rhythm.. The Pats don't have any recievers..

If they keep playing the way they are, with that easy schedule, they should have no problem going undeafeated in the regular season..

My personal thoughts on this:

This isn't as much of a case of milking a cash cow as some are making out to be, as there has been a large demand for this on DVD for years now (same with the box set). I do think that the "best of the box" CD that came out last year was unnecessary, though. That being said, it seems a little too convenient that these releases are coming out just in time for the holiday shopping season. My guess is next November we'll see the release of theiir Unplugged performance on DVD.

And Nirvana themselves would probably shame you for your first statement. They were humble, and realized they weren't as good as the praise heaped upon them would seem to say. While I think statements saying they were overrated are erroneous, as their impact on popular music is immense, they are remembered far more for their impact than their songwriting.
