Against Me! has posted a remix of the first single from their upcoming Sire debut, New Wave. You can hear the remix of "White People for Peace" their MySpace page. The remix was done by the album's producer, Butch Vig (Nirvana, Garbage).
You might have missed what's going on in Tom, Warren, Andrew and James lives lately as the coverage has slowed a bit. There's been a video, the making of said video, limited 7" preorder, a tour with some friends, and a limited, tour-only release. Oh, and New Wave is due out July 10, 2007. Horrible. Seriously horrible. And for the record, fuck this band and the "anarchist" horse it rode in on.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Reinventing Axl Rose was terrible. Searching For A Former Clarity was fucking amazing. 5+ Replies

I've tried hard to ignore the negative stuff that most of their older fans have been saying...but after this...oh my god. it is god awful. what happened!!!?????? !!!! ?????

I personally don't really like the Against Me! remixes but that's because I just don't think they sound good (nothing about remixes in general). But, all this "I can't believe they did this, totally not anarchist" shit is retarded. Chances are Butch did this for fun or as a favor to the band and they thought fans would like it. As they already have a "White People for Peace" single and a 7" with the pre-order, I doubt they did this to sell. It just sounds like something for fun and while I know teh punx isn't about fun some if y'all need to relax. 2+ Replies

The songs are not as good as the older stuff but is still better than 98% of the shit on major labels and 80% better than stuff on the indie labels. At least they're not Anti-Flag... Just Kidding. 1+ Reply

i'm generally a big fan of remixes, especially for against me! songs, but i thought butch did a pretty good job on it

Haha, it sounds like they're robots. Not necesarily in a good or bad way. Obviously robots are super-cool, so long as they're not malevolent and invading.

This is actually pretty good, considering I hate remixes. Especially Against Me remixes. But it just seems like this is what the song would sound like if Against Me were one of those indie bands that plays on David Letterman all the time, instead of coming from punk rock.

Nobody and I mean nobody does Against Me! dance mixes better than this guy.

I agree that overall Clarity is better, but RAR is still good, but way overrated.

I respect Butch Vig and what he does, by he must have been really bored to put this together. Against Me! does not require remixes of their songs. Didn't they learn from the Mouse on Mars and Ad-Rock remixes? This rendition of the song is awful -- it's not even "dance" -- who the hell is going to shake down to this? No one.
Someone (June 24, 2007)
I work at an H&M, and I look forward to having to hear this dumb remix 10 times per shift along with !!!, we are scientists, the killers, and whatever stupid dancepunk/deathdisco/ironicgarbage comes out in the next while. 2+ Replies
