Green Day members form Foxboro Hot Tubs

According to a report from Buzznet, members of Green Day have unveiled a new side project dubbed Foxboro Hot Tubs. The band is apparently fronted by Billie Joe Armstrong and seems to be influenced by 60s-era rock'n'roll. No word of which of his Green Day bandmates show up in the project but if their previous output is any indication, both Tre and Mike are likely to appear.

You can check out some music on their myspace page. A free six-song EP is expected soon.

This is the second semi-secret project from the members of Green Day who previously released Money Money 2020 under the name, The Network.

The only thing by GD I ever owned was Dookin in '94. Personally never got in 60s rocknroll/garage, listen to a bunch of fuckin 50s rockabilly. Who else loves cruisin around blastin loud rockabilly to annoy the squares?

i was never really into this sorta stuff, but this is pretty cool. if you like these, might be worth checking out Death On Wednesday. a bit more pop-punky, but they've definitely got the same 50s/60s rock influence, and the singer sounds like the lovechild of morrissey and glenn danzig.

I love Rockabilly music. It is the best music to play loud in the car while cruising. I love Johnny Burnette Trio, Johnny Carroll, Wanda Jackson, Janis Martin (who sadly passed away last month), Ronnie Self, and I can go on all day. I wish Punk bands would take more notice of Rockabilly. Just for the record I am really not a Psychobilly fan with the exception of a handful bands that play in that style.

i love 1039 smoothed out slappy hours, its got this same feel. You can tell the "ozzinahhs" are Mike Dirnt and you can tell the drumming is Tre, he matches a lot of the hits with his bass drum.

and wasn't it the network who "stole" the original cd they were going to release before they recorded american idiot?

I'm really digging this, like someone else mentioned it has kind of a poprocks and coke vibe to them. Sometimes, (but not always), its nice when a band embraces their "pop" side.

This is why I haven't completely given up on Green Day.

They might have gone completely gay as far as American Idiot went, even though I really like that album, they still have a sense of humor and still have fun doing other things... like this. I never listened to The Network though.

The band name is a reference to Billie joe's home town of Rodeo CA.

Foxboro was the fancy neigborhood and all the other kids would try to sneak into their public hot tubs to party

They have neat retro artwork for the faux-album jacket. And I agree with everyone else. These songs sound pretty good, but the 3 on the myspace page are def. better than the other 3.
