Love Equals Death set to record new full length in August

Petaluma, CA's Love Equals Death have announced that they will be hitting the studio in August to record their sophomore album with Travis Richter (From First To Last) and Lee Dyness (From First To Last, Mayday Parade) producing. The group has been busy touring with Tiger Army and Goldfinger, causing the delay since last summer's original recording. The record will be released on a label to be announced shortly.

The group previously released Nightmerica in 2006 via Fat Wreck Chords, and even more recently discussed line up changes and a slot on this year's Warped Tour.

I'm not taking sides or anything, but I'm pretty sure that the dude was found to be innocent. Perhaps somebody knows more, but I heard even the prosecutor gave up because there was no case.

Maybe there's some nerd on here that can dig up an article or something so we can figure out what the verdict was?

For the sake of real rapists out there and rape victims, it's a little dangerous to be using the term at random.

I think it's more a stupid meme at this point than "omg rape!!!11one" He was acquitted, and from what I heard I think he was suing some Philly newspaper for defamation. I'm in an open relationship so I'm all for road pussy, but it's sad that even the mildly famous have to watch out for attention hogs.

My best friend from college's uncle(from philly) was dominick's lawyer for the case. Supposedly, this girl was obsessed with him and wrote messages to his myspace like "you and i are meant to be together, domi". Of course when Dominick told her he has a girlfriend and couldnt do anything anymore, she accused him of rape. However, it was too risky to go to trial because if he was found guilty, his life would pretty much be over. So he took a plea agreement which basically means he can't leave philly for something like 3 or 4 years and is on probation. His girlfriend moved out there with him. Supposedly he is a really good guy who did something stupid (but not illegal) and paid big time cuz he messed with a psycho girl.
My friend knew i like punk so he told me his uncle defended a guy from a punk band on a rape case... i guessed exactly who it was.

Interesting, that's about the most insider information you could ask for.

The quote I heard was that the prosecutor knew he had no case and at one point said, "All this guy is guilty of is kissing a crazy girl". Which, by the way, IS very stupid, just so ya know. In any case, rape is obviously a horrendous crime and should be taken pretty seriously, which is why it's dangerous and unfair to use that term around at random.

Again, I'm not taking sides, but people should be fair to the parties involved and be smart enough not to throw that word around, even on the org!

I think any jury would look at stalker e-mails and the utter lack of evidence in this case and acquit.

Sort of, there's this thing called "The Rape Shield" where certain kinds of evidence aren't allowed to be use at all in rape cases. IE: myspace messages, if the accuser was having dinner and spending the night in a hotel room with someone else from your band that night and then dated them for six months, a very solid history of other bat-shit insane things from the accuser, etc.

Choosing to continue fighting it would cost AT LEAST another $20,000 in legal fees, with him and his family already in considerable debt fighting the charges so far. And though there wasn't any case at all -- no evidence that they even had sex even -- had it gone to trial the door would end up wide open for whatever a jury or anyone else could get convinced of with pretty endless potential for punishment. The plea bargain terms have the charges reduced to pretty much nothing at all, he just has to live in Philly for a short time, and is allowed to travel anywhere he wants for "work" even if it means a full USA tour with a band or visiting clients or any of the things that he has any interest in doing at any time.

Having some inside info, it really pains me that I don't know how much I can say here, but just speaking on whatever integrity I might have credit for, I am very solidly convinced that Dominic is 100% innocent on this one and only stuck in Philly right now as a lame quark of our "justice system".

I don't want to be of the mentality of blaming the victim, and most rape laws do a good job of reminding everyone it's a majorly victim-focused proceeding. I just get nervous however that it can sometimes contribute to the very rare case of Betty Batshit acting loopy.

I really don't know anything about the case, but you make a great point. How often have bands (or members of bands) been accused of rape, date rape, etc, the internet goes berzerk calling them "rapists," then either no charges are ever filed or the cases are dismissed, and you never hear anything else. It's sad.

I know that this is completely unrelated, but I'm curious.
I got a vinyl copy of Samiam's "Billy" a couple of months ago, and I've noticed that it has a completely different color than all the pictures of it on the internet. The doll on my face is almost blue, while the one I've seen in other places is very bright green (mine is still green, but with a lot of blue mixed into it, to be more precise). Do all the vinyls look like this or is it a sign of a first pressing or something?

This Band is pretty good Live, even though they have like 1 Good Song. I can't expect them to get any better now that they have some From First To Last guy producing them. How you can you go from Bill Stevenson to that?....
