Rise Against has posted the cover art for their upcoming record Appeal To Reason.
The record, due out October 7th, follows up 2006's The Sufferer & the Witness. The band recorded with Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendents) and Jason Livermore at the Blasting Room in Ft. Collins, CO -- the same production team and studio used for The Sufferer & the Witness and Revolutions Per Minute.

not big on that fist/hear logo, or the rest of this. Too much negative space (I think that's what you arty types call it). 2+ Replies

The negative space works for it.

I love Rise Against, but I'm already sick of the "fist/heart" logo. Otherwise, I like the artwork.

artwork isn't bad, really. i can see it being a segment of a larger image or collage. can't say i'll buy it or even steal it. i'll hear the popular songs on the radio at work and assume the rest of it sounds like the last album.. i'd rather listen to a wilhelm scream. those are the guys carrying the flag for melodic fast punk 2+ Replies

Again with the "Suitman with a Different Head" motif...

Hey these are the guys who sang Swing Life Away, cool!!! Call me too cool, but lost interest in this band when all the racist motocross kids go into them. I'm not allowed share anything with the bro-world. 4+ Replies

Could this cliche artwork that bands do get any worse? Seriously. 3+ Replies

I think it would be a stronger design if they embraced the negative space and got rid of the invasive black bars and band name.

you guys just don't understand... it's shitty artwork for a reason. The band wants the listeners to know that you should judge the record by the music, not the artwork. 3+ Replies

For being signed to a major, you think they would have been able to afford to not have such shitty artwork. 1+ Reply

Are they shooting for irony with a life saving device(gasmask) and a gun intended for to used for suicide? I don't like the artwork butim sure this will be just as good as the rest.

i'm not huge on the cover, but i'm still stoked for the album. Rise Against are one of the few hardcore acts out that still give me shivers (in the good way, of course) everytime i blast them. 3+ Replies

I don't get why people hate this artwork: I've developed a tolerence since the new Offspring record. 3+ Replies

Gee, a guy in a suit with a gas mask on! I've never seen that before...

BAD artwork. Such a shame.. i'm stoked to hear this i just cant understand how so much bad art gets out these days - its like the labels assume it wont affect anyone and doesnt matter just because the world has gone digital. I HATE this artwork, not because its terrible - which it is - but because it isn't great - and it could easily have been. Looks like something i did in high school on photoshop 5.

I am definitely looking forward to this album, but the cover isn't original. The Siren Song of the Coutner Culture had a great cover. But come on, what the album cover looks like isn't going to change my mind about buying it, so who cares?? They can put whatever the hell they want on their album covers, as long as the music is good, I'll listen to it! =)

This is one of THEIR best album arts ever, since it makes sense. Its a guy pointing to his head as there's obviously something wrong, an "appeal to reason." The unraveling cover was of a guy that was... unraveling and it looked like an alien. Siren song of the counter culture had an ok cover, but it was just a speaker with wings. The sufferer and the witness had a wierd cover that looked like a 5year old threw paint colors on paper. It was about a woman bieng yelled at by a man and you or the woman was supposedly supposed to be the "witness." Yea didn't make sense.
Their best would probably have to be Revolutions per Minute, I'm one of the few RA fans who actually doesn't think this album is their best, but I think the album art for this one is nice (headphones plugged into a grenade). Ahh but the suit thing, kindof sortof, the album art embodies show rest of comment | Features
