Past Lives (Blood Brothers, Shoplifting) release EP with Suicide Squeeze

Past Lives, which features Jordan Blilie, Morgan Henderson and Mark Gajadhar of Blood Brothers alongside former Shoplifting guitarist Devin Welch, have teamed up with Suicide Squeeze for the distributing of their debut EP Strange Symmetry. You can currently buy the five song EP straight from the band and Suicide Squeeze will be releasing the CD, LP and digital versions on November 4th.

The band has a few upcoming shows, including an appearance at the Fuck Yeah fest in LA. The dates are below.

Just bought the EP last night, and it's pretty sweet. Great live band too. Definitely the best of the post-Blood Brothers projects.

Also, for what it's worth, Devin was the original guitarist for the Blood Brothers.

I agree. And then, the Blood Brothers should go on an indefinite hiatus and not form any new groups with their high pitch squealing and black girl, oh-no-you-didn't hand gestures.

Coincidence or not? Even though it's not a physicial release, Past Lives releasing an EP (kind of unexpectedly, too) just a week or two before Jaguar Love's album comes out seems like they're inviting a rivalry of sorts. Does anyone know if the Blood Brothers split on good terms? I thought I heard that everything was in the shitter between the two factions within at the end.

Not to spread any drama, but to me, it seems like it wasn't an amicable split. I was at what ended up being their last performance last summer, and none of them were on the same page on any level. They just looked tired and bored.

Also, you have to look at the fact that 2 members of the band moved to Portland to start a new band, while the other 3 stayed in Seattle and formed a new band with their original guitarist. That alone sparks memories of the ATDI split (for me, at least).

So yeah, I doubt a Blood Brothers reunion is on the horizon.

I thought I heard that, too, but didn't remember if I was making that up. I've been likening this to the ATDI fall-out, as well. My alliances lie with Past Lives, whatever the case. Jaguar Love's album is okay, but you can tell those Blood Brothers members are the ones who were clinging on to the sound of Crimes and Young Machetes at the end of The Blood Brothers's days. Past Lives is moving in a better direction and I like noisier, harder things, too. Plus, if you look at their tour schedule, they've got better shows playing with better artists lined up (in my opinion.) I just feel like Jaguar Love is the band stuck in yesterday, while Past Lives are looking forward. That's the irony in their name...

I'll check out this band if somebody tells me that this band's name is a nod to the Hot Snakes song.
