Tours: Dropkick Murphys / H2O

Dropkick Murphys have announced H2O as support on their recently announced tour. The two bands will be hitting the road together next February and March. The Dropkicks issued The Meanest of Times in 2007. H2O released their long-awaited new full length, Nothing to Prove, in 2008.

I've yet to see either of these bands in my lifetime, so fuck it I'm gonna go. The only H20 album I've ever like is F.T.T.W. though so I hope they play some shit from that. Dropkick is probably a good time

I can tell you that H20 have at least played 'One Life, One Chance' all four times I've seen them, and yeah Dropkick usually put on a fun show, even if I'm not a huge fan, so you should probably go, at least you can throw back a few and hang out with friends, right?

Hard to say I dunno your taste in films but it has Alec Baldwin in it if that is a selling point. It is about this guy that gets in trouble and is sent to boarding school and there is drugs and love and all that good stuff but it has that sort of accent in it.

I still think Blackout sucks, but not nearly as much as The Meanest of Times. The Warrior's Code however was a great comeback even if it was just temporary.

Warrior's Code was a little too much on the Celtic rock side for me, but there are great moments on there ("Green Fields of Frances"). Meanest of Times took me a long time to finally get into. But they did hit their peak.

Yeah, the self titled was on Blackout in 96, Thicker Than Water in 97 on Epitaph and FFTW in 99. Theeeeeeeeeen they grabbed for the brass ring.

I actaully liked the last H2O album more than anything they put out in the 90's. Conversely, I haven't even moderately enjoyed anything Dropkick have done since 'The Gang's All Here', and even that album was mediocre at best imo.

I didn't go because it was $12, and that's a little much for one band I like. Last time Is aw H2O was in early '05 under very similar circumstances ($12, only into H2O) when they played with Stretch Armstrong and With Honor. H2O were good (at that point I hadn't seen 'em since 2001) but they played all the songs a click too slow for the first half of the set.

Rambling aside, I don't like Bane so I also skipped that tour.

I don't have either of the latter, though. But, Bane was a lot less bro-ish than some shows i've gone to (Damn you, Rise Against!)

The only time I've ever seen H2O was when they opened for Sum 41 when I was 12 or 13 years old. I still find it funny to this day that they opened for Sum 41.

You do have a point about the MHL though. I had a sixer of tallboys sitting in my fridge for a month once, brought it over to a friend's place for a party and only made it through two cans because it somehow got skunky.

Toby is the only guy in H20 who's sober (unless something's changed in the past couple of months). There's at least 2 sober members in the current DKM line up (again, unless something changed drastically in the past couple of months). The original band was entirely sober. (Dropkick Murphys was the name of a detox clinic).

I'm just not stoked at the year this tour is taking place;if this was five-six years ago (to the best of my knowledge their tours together never hit the midwest then) I'd be shitting my pants. I'd like to see H2O again, mostly for nostalgic purposes, but DKM I've totally written off.

One of the consistantly great live bands out there right now. My favorite DKM stuff was with Mike McColgan anyway, so it made perfect sense that the Street Dogs would be just as good, if not better and to me, I'm right. I see them whenever I can, can't wait for the new album.

I went to a show in a Minor Threat t-shirt a couple years ago and some hardcore dude almost knocked me over because he thought it was disrespectful to be wearing that while drinking a beer. He couldn't fathom that anyone would like Minor Threat because they were really good at making music and not because your ideologies were aligned.
