I had this on CD when i was 12 or so. I remember listening to it in the car and my dad saying "This isn't very good". Naturally I was like "Fuck you, dad! You just don't understand!" Sometimes it's good to listen to your parents.

There's a band in Lansing made up of young high school kids (actually, one might be in college now?) called Catalina Wine Mixer who can cover "Fat Lip" but not do the words at the same time, so people will just bum rush the stage and rap the entire thing. It's so much fun, and every time I think of this song now, I think of those guys and just having a riot.

i'd have to do some digging through the stacks, but I'm fairly sure i already have this on vinyl....

That was an interesting nostalgic flashback. I remember when this song was popular, and I always disliked its format: the rap-rock verses, pop-punk chorus, pseudo-acoustic bridge...it's a mix of styles that really rubs me the wrong way, and I'm a huge fan of bands like Mr. Bungle. God, it's annoying. However, the album itself isn't all that bad.

Isn't this kinda like polishing a turd? Well at least hipsters can't say they heard it first on vinyl.

Wow! Be still, my heart. Too much, too fast. Wake the neighbors. And other sarcastic things.

Half Hour of Power was ok, this one was less ok. That is my brilliant analysis.

Also, I don't know why I did, but, I pressed play on the video. The uploader did not make it available in my country. Which seems strange since my country and Sum 41's country is the same country. Maybe it is for the best.

I'd rather have rage against the machine reissue their vinyl that would be worth it compared to.....this....

cool for Asbestos. personally, a few catchy licks aside, I always thought this band was garbage. They were cashing in on the mall-punk craze by riding on the coattails of shitbag pioneers Blink-182. I just remember the buttrock "alternative" radios playing the shit out of this song and hillbilly kids in Indiana eating it up. |
