Alternative Tentacles has signed LA's "maximum rock 'n' soul" quartet The BellRays. The label will release the band's fourth full length The Red, White and Black in North America this year (it will be re-released in most of Europe as well, it was originally released there in October of 2003). Vocalist Lisa Kekaula commented "The BellRays are grateful that Alternative Tentacles is releasing "The Red, White & Black." We find solace in their ability to maintain intergrity & independance in the underground above ground. We are elated." Label head Jello Biafra added "Finally! Picture Tina Turner or Aretha Franklin fronting a garage band- I've been waiting for something like this for a long time!"

Kekaula recently joined the surviving members of the MC5 as a vocalist on their European tour. The BellRays will appear at the previously announced Alternative Tentacles 25th anniversary show at Slim's in San Francisco this Halloween. There is a full US tour tentatively planned for February 2005.
