Billboard is reporting that Sonic Youth, Suicide's Alan Vega, David Johansen, Andrew W.K. and Sean Lennon will join The Strokes and Blondie at the October 8th Ramones cancer benefit in NYC. Prior to his September 15th death from prostate cancer, Johnny Ramone was spearheading the event with Joey's brother Mickey Leigh co-hosting. Ramones artistic director Arturo Vega commented "Johnny was fully aware of his health situation and we discussed what to do in the event of his death. His words were 'We can't disappoint the fans and all the people that are working so hard on the shows.'"

Bassist CJ Ramone and producer Daniel Rey will lead the evening's house band and drummer Tommy Ramone will deliver a "special message" to Ramones fans. The event benefits Cedars Sinai Cancer Research Center and the Lymphoma Cancer Research Foundation in NYC.
