Influential metal/hardcore outfit Converge has posted an update on their plans for the upcoming year. The band has spent much of the summer collectively writing new material for the follow up to 2004's Epitaph debut You Fail Me and adds:

The band currently has the skeleton of several songs in the works, with many more still coming together. Look for Converge to begin playing new material on their upcoming Canadian tour with Terror, Cursed, and Mare as well as at Hellfest 2K5.

Converge will be hitting the road for a full U.S. tour in November with some amazing bands. Who? We can't tell you just yet…specifics of this long awaited tour will be announced next week…

During the summer break from touring, the band has seen its members busy with a number of projects. Guitarist Kurt Ballou has been producing records, drummer Ben Koller has been filling in on drums with Cave In, vocalist Jake Bannon has been working on artwork including recent covers for releases from As I Lay Dying, Underoath and working on his respected Deathwish record label. Bassist Nate Newton is gearing up for the August release of Black Thunder, the debut from his Doomriders project.
