Jade Tree has announced that they have switched their distribution to Touch and Go after 13 years with Mordam. The label's press release states:

Mordam was one of the first distributors of its kind, run as a collective label group versus a more traditional sales center. Founded in 1983 by Ruth Schwartz with the idea of offering both competitive and competent CD distribution without price gouging or ridiculous shipping goals; Modam gave indie-labels like Lookout, Sympathy for the Record Industry, and Jade Tree the ability to develop their rosters and grow organically.

In January of 2005 Schwartz sold Mordam to the Lumberjack group. Says Jade Tree co-founder Tim Owen, "After 15 years of being a label and with Ruth leaving we felt it was the perfect time for a change."

Chicago's Touch and Go distributes a handful of labels including Suicide Squeeze, Kill Rock Stars and Merge. Owen commented on the move:

"We have nothing but glowing praise for Mordam and their staff, but are excited to see what the future with Touch and Go holds."
