Relapse act Burnt By the Sun has opted to reunite to record their final record for the label. The band saw the departure of both drummer Dave Witte and vocalist Mike Olender last September but pledged to continue on with a reconstituted lineup.

Instead, the group will reunite the original lineup with the addition of guitarist Nick Hale to record their final album. Witte, who has been touring with tongue-in-cheek crossover revivalists Municipal Waste added:

After hearing the new material and thinking about what could be done, the feelings of leaving something unfinished made themselves very present and also re-confirmed the lost connection between us. I am happy that we have grown in the time that has past and will be able to finish what we started.

Witte, who first came to attention as the drummer from grindcore pioneeers Discordance Axis has split his time between Municipal Waste as well as Melt Banana since leaving Burnt By the Sun. Vocalist Olender joined Nora, the band fronted by Ferret boss Carl Ferret.

Olender promises that the new album will be "layered, dark and very heavy. It is music that speaks of the times we're in." The band plans to begin recording next year with one track, "Tacolypse Now" already written and another track to be re-recorded from their split with Luddite Clone.
