A limited edition vinyl replica of Public Image Ltd's Metal Box album will soon be released in the U.S. Like the 1979 original it will be comprised of 3 45 rpm records housed in a metal can. Frontman John Lydon has been overseeing the release, making sure that everything from the sound quality to the packaging is as close to the original as possible. The album will be released on the 4 Men With Beards label and distributed through RUNT Distribution. An exact release date has not yet been set.

Metal Box, which featured a lineup of Lydon, Keith Levene, Jah Wobble and Richard Dudanski, was never properly released in the States. It was issued in the U.S. in 1980 with different artwork, cheaper packaging, and different sequencing under the title Second Edition. Furthermore the CD reissues of Metal Box have reportedly boasted better sound quality than its Second Edition counterpart as well. This reissue will be the first time Metal Box has been available through U.S. distribution in its intended form.
