May 28th, 2006
by Sunday Edition

It's Sunday May 28th, 2006. So I was enjoying the nice weather this weekend with some good ol mid-90s ska/punk and something struck me as odd. There's a lyric in "As Wicked" that goes "she said she never had a friend before / I said 'hey girl I'll be your friend but who's keepin' score'." I sat in the sun with my beer and pondered this bit of marble mouthed wisdom from my pal Tim, and it struck me: MySpace keeps score. That's who. I'm not sure why, but it bums me out.

Stories you were talking about this week

Gorilla Biscuits are reunited and ready to reclaim the road. The influential act announced dates supported by Comeback Kid this week. List making is pretty much the music nerd's favorite past time, but it's certainly odd to see the Clash and Sex Pistols appear on someone's list of the top conservative rock songs. While they announced details on their new EP, I'm willing to bet it's the new volly in their feud with Avenged Sevenfold that had you talking about the Dillinger Escape Plan this week. What a long, strange publicity campaign it's been, but PETA2's sexiest vegetarian competition has wrapped up and from its punk-heavy nominees Davey Havok is one of the winners. We got to hear new music this week from Rise Against, Bad Religion's Greg Graffin and the Bouncing Souls. This week also saw Avail hooking up with the upcoming Rancid tour, Propagandhi running for rights, and the now-usual amount of AFI pre-release details.

Also this week the music community said goodbye to legendary ska and reggae artist Desmond Dekker. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and fans.
