Death Cab For Cutie and Sub Pop Records have embraced the controversail BitTorrent file sharing apparatus to push out videos and music for the bands.

Death Cab for Cutie has launched a new Electronic Press Kit featuring a video with interviews and other material related to their 2006 album, Plans.

Similarly, Sub Pop has set up a channel featuring high quality music videos and music from artists including Murder City Devils, The Thermals and Wolf Eyes.

This isn't the first time that band's have embraced the new technology though, the Decemberists used it to distribute a video and Harvey Danger released an entire album using the technology. This is however, one of the first times a high profile major label act has used it in any quantity.
