Variety is reporting that a new film about influential female punk act The Runaways.

Producers Art and John Linson will be bringing their story to the bigs creen as Neon Angels. The film will concern the lives of members Joan Jett, Cherie Currie and the late Sandy West. An unpublished memoir written by lead singer Curie will be used as source material for a drama that intends to bare all the drugs, sex and heartache experienced by girls who "struggled to be viewed as musicians, not sex kittens with guitars."

Drummer Sandy West passed away last year following a long battle with lung cancer.
