MTV spoke to a number of San Diego bands who have been displaced or otherwise affected by the recent slate of wildfires that have afflicted residents. As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis told his story:

That first night I could see the fire coming toward us on the hill we're on, and I was scared. I grabbed important photos, my dog, documents. I have a studio at my house, so I have 15 hard drives with recordings that I had to pile up along with three computers. It was hectic. My wife grabbed her wedding dress.

The famous Big Fish Recording studio was also very nearly a casualty of the fires. The studio was home to notable recordings from bands like Rocket from the Crypt, Blink–182, Jimmy Eat World and others.
