Plans have been announced to produce a new fictional film about DIY and the underground music scene of the 1980s. Titled Let It Be, the film promises a story following a fictional New York City working/middle class punk–pop band called The Renegades.

The film will star The Black Lips as the protagonists and aims to document "the movement that was DIY." The film is being executive produced by Andrew Meyer and directed by Roger Rawlings. The website also makes reference to many influential bands that apparently inspired the composite "Renegades" including Husker Du, The Replacements, Sonic Youth and others.
