us with another potential club closing. This one hits me particularly close to home, as it is the Trasheteria in Guelph, Ontario. Click READ MORE to see what you can do to help if you're in the area or if you've every played shows at the Trash before…

Recently the Trasheteria, in Guelph, was purchased by another bar here. This was a good thing, as the new owner is a great guy, however things have taken a turn for the worse.

The once popular punk night, on Tuesdays, has dwindled to the point where we close early and it's just barely worth staying open. Friday Punk nights are doing marginally better, but not much. Shows have been so pathetically shitty that I've had to cancel a whole bunch of them.

This weekend I was informed that I have 1 month to turn things around, or the Trasheteria will be turned into a dance club. I don't blame the guy, it would make more money that way, but I'd hate to see it happen.

Basically it's up to everyone in our so called "scene" to actually show some support.

I have a good feeling that things will change, but I do need help. If you've played at the Trash before, I don't think it's too much to ask for you to come out and have a good time there again. If you've seen a show there, thank you very much, your patronage has been appreciated. It would be nice to see you again.

So here's the deal.
2 nights a week we have a punk night. It's free to get into, but 19+. So come on out. Guelph is only a half hour drive from Burlington and Hamilton and a bit further from Oakville. No one says you have to come out until 2:30AM. Just come and show some support. Tuesdays and Fridays.

Saturdays are new music night. I DJ that too. I'm sure most of you don't like this music, I know it's not what I listen to, but it is fun when it's packed. My programming has been scrutinized lately, so it's hasn't been much fun.

As of right now, if things don't change, there will be 3 more shows at the Trash, and then no more.

This Sunday, June 9th.

So if you want to see it close up and turn into a shitty dance club, continue doing what you are doing. However, if you would like to have a place to go again, then show up with some friends and have a good time. Not much to ask.

Now, some people will say that the closing will not affect them. But it will. Bands rely on the Trash as a stop off, and if they can't get x amount of shows in Canada, they won't come up. So you can likely say goodbye to some tours.

Also, if the trash changes over, I'm not sticking around. Certainly a good for some people, but lets not forget about all the work I do for touring and local bands. Most of you don't know but I'm responsible for a lot of bands coming up here. At the same time, I give bands an opportunity to play club shows in front of good audiences.

Just think about things, and if you can make it down on a Friday or Tuesday or a Saturday, or to one of these shows, please do.

I really appreciate everyone who has come to the Trash, or even thought about it. It is however time for action and not words.
