Green Day are among the honourees for the USA Network's "Character Approved" awards. The press release tries to explain the award:

The initiative is dedicated to celebrating the true trailblazers across a variety of disciplines such as art, philanthropy, new media and film. The 2010 honorees are innovators in their field who are influencing our opinions, our style, and our view of the world. They're celebrated by their peers and their fresh, authentic ideas both surprise and inspire us.

A celebratory cocktail reception honoring the ten honorees will be held in New York City on Feb. 25th. The event will feature the cast of Green Day's American Idiot musical in their first New York City live performance prior to their Broadway debut. The honorees will be featured in webisodes that provide an inside look at the lives, the works and influences of these characters.
