Exclaim has revealed that landmark Toronto hardcore act Fucked Up is planning a musical as their follow up to 2008's The Chemistry of Common Life. Guitarist Ben Cook revealed to the music paper that the new record will be "the poppiest thing the band has ever done." He commented "I'm pretty sure its called David Comes to Life, and it's supposed to be a musical, but I'm not sure how that's going to work really." Cook goes on to claim that the band is trying for a "Blitz on Prozac" vibe with the project, referencing the British street punk band.

The new record is expected some time this year. Its predecessor won the $20,000 Polaris Music Prize in 2009. The singles collection Couple Tracks: Singles 2002-2009 was released earlier this year.
