Hi all:
Too long between updates again. I blame motherhood, softball, and the economy. Well…motherhood and softball.
Really, I've been stalling because I have some sad news. After 13 years, I've decided to end DeSoto Records. I have enjoyed (almost) every minute of it, but I'm ready to try my hand at some new things. I'm also thinking of picking up the bass again and seeing what comes of that. Since my son Nick was born, I've discovered that "kid's music" really seriously sucks. I would like to put out a CD of children's music that my family and other indie families would approve of. We'll see where this one goes.
Anyway, I'm winding down the label very gradually and there's still some exciting stuff to report. But before the positive news, there's one other bummer.
Burning Airlines have decided to call it quits. J. Robbins is busy with his production career and continues to write a lot of music (come on J., time for a solo record). Mike Harbin just started a new label called Silver Three, and Pete Moffett has been traveling the globe as the drum tech for Alanis Morrisette!
On to happier things …
On September 9th, we're reissuing Shiner's Lula Divinia. This is an amazing record and has long been out of print. The new Lula will include two, new, unreleased bonus tracks which also rock. Shiner is gearing up to leave on their first Japanese tour.
The Dismemberment Plan just completed their video for "Time Bomb," and it looks awesome. A guy named Ruben Fleischer from L.A. (of course) directed the video. Sure, we'll send a copy to MTV2 and see what happens, but we're also looking for creative, alternative things to do with a video. If anyone has suggestions, please email!
The Plan are about to leave for a short tour of Spain and then have more U.S touring coming up this fall. As always, check the dates at www.dismembermentplan.com. They're also busy writing for a new record. We're not yet sure what label the next Plan record will be on, but they will definitely find a good home.
The Eternals are comfortably settled in at Aesthetic Records and Juno are on hiatus now.
