by Ramones

The organizers of the Grammy Awards have announced that The Ramones will be receiving a lifetime achievement next year. They will receive their statuettes at an event in Los Angeles on February 12, a day before the 53rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony is held. The Ramones will join Julie Andrews of The Sound of Music, Dolly Parton and Roy Haynes in the ceremony. The Ramones are notable in the category as they are the only lifetime achievement honourees who have never received a traditional Grammy award.

Sadly, Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee - three of the four founding members of the Ramones - are not alive to receive the honour having passed away early this decade.
