Some news about the excellent music4autobahns.com. Sadly, the site is closing, and independent music loses one of it's most visually intensive and unique sites. Click below to read a statement from founder, Steve O'Brien.

My name is Steve O¹Brien. I run the day-to-day operations of M4A as well as shoot, edit, encode all the interviews on the site. Two years ago I started spending all my free time contacting people to let them know about this new music site I was starting. This site was going profile bands like no other DIY e-zine has ever done. We would shoot an interview with a band and edit in live performance for a unique video segment. This was the idea behind the creation of Music4autobahns.

I regret saying that this will be the last newsletter you will receive since Music4autobahns is coming to an end. There was never any big conglomerate sponsoring the site, only our own pockets. It was through the energy, passion and dedication of all the people who helped that it lasted this long. We did little to no advertising and relied on word of mouth to gain popularity. It was what made us special, the video interviews, that did us in. The more people who watched our content the more we were charged for bandwidth overages. Unable to keep up with the maintenance costs we have decided that it is time to put it to an end.

I am disappointed more than anything since we were doing things that most DIY sites could not. All the people who ever worked on M4A had day jobs as designers, programmers and multimedia specialists. We provided high quality video content that made for a pleasurable streaming experience. People we are able to not only see their favorite bands play, but also find out info told by the band members themselves.

In the next couple of days you will see changes. M4A as a stand-alone site will soon be gone but not our video content. Our friends of at manateebound.com will be housing our video interviews and posting new things that we may be doing. We will soon being doing interviews again but not in the quantity like we used to do. Please make sure to check out their website. It is extremely well done and non bias to any genre of music. We respect them for that immensely which is why we want to work with them.

I want to say thank you to all the bands, labels, and people who helped make this site a success. During our history we received emails thanking us for what we did with M4A. I can never say thanks enough to all of you that made this possible.

If you are a band, label or web site that has linked back to any of our videos please be advised that the links will become dead.
