Q: While watching American Hardcore, it was pretty clear that this era of music was a reaction to Reagan's politics. Which contemporary hardcore bands do you think the fit the bill as a reaction to today's legislation choices, policies, economy and politics?

A: Since its creation there are punk bands who serve as a direct retaliation to a certain political movement (Reagan of the 80s, G.W. Bush etc). But, these bands tend to be incredibly boring in the long haul. Look at Dead Kennedys, one of the most outspoken bands against Reagan. The music they've all gone on to make in the years since is so much different than DK and isn't (for the most part) aimed at a single political figure or movement because as soon as that person is out of office it's almost silly to expect a band to carry on in that tradition.

But I like bad music, so there's that.
