The currently labelless [after Desoto closed it's doors] boys of Shiner have decided to call it quits. An official statement:
"After much difficult deliberation, we, the gentlemen of Shiner have decided to end our working relationship together and pursue new projects. This was not an easy or quick decision. 10 years is a very long time to work together and we're very proud of what we've done, and all want to build off of the momentum that Shiner has created."
To read the rest of the statement, please click READ MORE. The band will have one final show on January 25th, 2003 in Kansas City, MO.

The band also has several posthumous projects coming out - a retrospective disc is currently on the agenda [no mention of a label], as well as the band's cover of My Bloody Valentine's "Only Shallow" being included on an upcoming Grand Theft Autumn compilation [GTA is run by Todd Bell of Hey Mercedes fame]. HEAR YE, HEAR YE:
After much difficult deliberation, we, the gentlemen of Shiner have decided to end our working relationship together and pursue new projects. This was not an easy or quick decision. 10 years is a very long time to work together and we're very proud of what we've done, and all want to build off of the momentum that Shiner has created.

We are all still close friends. We will still work together in different variations and incarnations, and you should expect to hear new kinds of Shiner induced tunes in the upcoming months. We are excited to continue to create music for you folks.

Shiner would like to thank everyone who has ever come to see us, bought a Shiner record, emailed us, visited the site, thought about us, hummed or tapped their toes to a Shiner tune, let us sleep on your floors, gave us your drugs and/or booze, woke us up at 7AM because you had to work and we had to get out, or maybe your band played with us. Thank you so much!

Shiner.net will remain up and operational, as there's still business to be done.

FINAL SHINER SHOW!
JAN 25 Kansas City, MO @ Madrid Theatre w/ Houston and DirtNap. Don't miss this last opportunity to get rocked with us and our homeboys. Absolutely not to be missed for the true Shinerite.

A GLIMMER:
*Shiner will release a retrospective disc in the spring of '03 that will include songs from all our 7 inches, comps, and unreleased demos. Also hopefully included will be a live DVD of our show at the Metro in Chicago on 8/31/02, plus some other footage of us acting like we're not acting.

*We have Shinerized a version of My Bloody Valentines "Only Shallow" for the "Soak your Shoes in Red Wine and Strike the Angels Dumb" comp over at http://www.grandtheftautumn.com. there's a bunch of great bands on this, too.

* Jason and Allen recorded a strange little version of Journeys' "Anytime" for the Journey Tribute comp called "No Escape" over at http://www.urinine.com. looks like its us, (temporarily called Ohms for no good reason whatsoever), Houston, Traindodge, and a few others. should be out very soon also.
