Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: Hello. I was wondering how one might AVOID promoting their band on or a new release of theirs on Punknews?

A: Step 1: Release really good music. We're notoriously bad at finding good music and even worse at supporting it. It may be hard to believe, but if you ask any number of our commentors, there hasn't been a "good" band covered on Punknews in YEARS. So, chances are if you're really good, we won't cover you.

Step 2: Be a super legit band with a lot of ethics. We pretty much ignore any band that doesn't have at least three beer sponsors.

Step 3: Be really good people. Most all of the bands we like to associate with are complete dicks at everything (Just ask any random dude on the internet).

Step 4: Don't pay our mandatory $500 "News coverage fee". Even if you follow all these steps, there's a slight chance we might find out about your band, so the best thing to do is NOT pay us for coverage. At this point, if a band doesn't pony up AT LEAST $500, their story will never see the light of day. I don't care if you're a super group of Green Day, NOFX, The Offspring, P.O.D. AND Matt Toka, you don't pay, we don't play.
