"It looks as if FIF may be calling it quits. their website is no longer up and running, and today I heard that they will release two more albums. One which will be really silly, in typical FIF form and one serious release. Five Minute Walk records has also decided to take a break as well from releasing. This has been confirmed in the bands newsletter. Click below for some of the information another reader sent us from said newsletter.

"According to a newsletter sent via e-mail, Christian ska-punk band Five Iron Frenzy are calling it quits…eventually. They said at the end of 2003, they will cease to be a band. However, it should be a busy year for them nonetheless:

  • Releasing their b-sides/"funny" record in April 2003, tenatively titled "Cheesus of Nazarreth"
  • Touring throughout the year and throughout the continental USA, including various fests, the Cornerstone fests among them.
  • Releasing their final studio record (on 5 Minute Walk Records) that will only be available at their shows…that is until 2004, when it will be available in stores. If it's bought at their shows, there is supposed to be a lot of work put into the packaging, so take that any way you want.

I was sad to hear, but if they all think it's time for them to move on, then it must be. I thought/think they are one of the most talented ska-punk bands around, maybe even ever. Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
