"The Los Angeles Times has this article on Long Gone John, the reclusive 51-year-old founder of Sympathy For the Record Industry, which in its 14 year existence has released over 700 records from the likes of White Stripes, the Muffs, Redd Kross, Rocket From the Crypt, and up-and-coming Bostonians Mr. Airplane Man. The article compares Long Gone John to plucky indie label heads of yore, such as Sun Records' Sam Phillips, though for his part John says he models SFtRI on Stiff Records."
