Kevin Lyman of Warped Tour recently addressed the prohibition on using terms like "mosh pit." Lyman took to Twitter to explain and discuss it over the past few days:

If you [join a mosh pit, it's] fine. [But] if the bands do it they become responsible for all the injuries that occur, people do not take responsibility. In America that leads to many lawsuits; [have you] ever sat in one? I have been through many, no fun and costly. [Instead of waiting for the bands to call for it] start one on your own and be a leader.
