Mike Dirnt of Green Day has plans to produce an independent film. The film will be called Crickets and will be co-produced with Green Day's manager Pat Magnarella. The script was written by Alfredo Botello.

The story follows two estranged brothers. One of the brothers is a stand up comic who is dying of a terminal illness. He asks his brother, who works an office job, to go on stage to perform his act in order to evalaute his own work. Dirnt stated:

I - and a lot of people - have been - affected by illnesses and it’s a very relatable thing… I’m just kind of tired of junk food movies. Here’s something that’s a feel good, feel bad and feel everything movie.
