The Toronto Star is reporting that Epic/Legacy has set a June 10th release date for "The Essential Clash" DVD. The disc will feature videos for "White Riot," "Complete Control," "Tommy Gun," "Clampdown," "Train In Vain," "London Calling," "Bank Robber," "The Call Up" and "Rock The Casbah." Live clips of "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" and "Career Opportunities" will be included along with rare promotional footage and the short film "Hell W10." Joe Strummer wrote and directed the silent, black and white film in 1983. Promo material includes a trailer for the "Clash On Broadway" boxed set, footage from 1976 and and interview from the "London Weekly Show." Initial plans were for the new footage and videos to be tacked onto a re-release of the Grammy winning "Westway To The World," but the band members did not want to force fans who already owned the documentary to buy it a second time.

A memorial concert for Joe Strummer is planned for April 20th at London's Tabernacle. It will feature performances from The 101'ers (Strummer's pre-Clash band), longtime collaborator and Mescalero Tymon Dogg, and veteran British pub-rock act Wilco Johnson.
