The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has release a report of music sales, revenue, and trends in 2018. In 2018, music revenue grew by 9.7%. Across the globe, total music revenue for the year was $19.1 billion. The increase in revenue was mostly caused by an increase of streaming across various platforms. By the end of 2018, there were 255 million users of paid streaming services. However, there was a 10.1% decline in physical music revenue and a 21.2% decline in download revenue. Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and South Korea all saw a rapid rise in music revenue. As always, it's important to distinguish that these figures represent music revenue paid to any source, not necessarily music revenue paid to artists. See the report right here.
