Vernon, NY holds town hall over Woodstock 50, it does not go well
by

This week, the organizers of Woodstock 50 attended a town hall in Vernon, New York (the proposed location of the troubled event) in order to convince the town to allow the festival to take place. It did not go well. According to Variety, the local residents and businesses were overwhelmingly against the festival taking place. One of the larger concerns was that, while Woodstock 50 is a proposed three day event, the organizers had no plan for where the approximately 65,000 attendees would stay over night. At the meeting, Woodstock 50 suggested that nearby campgrounds and farms might serve as good places to let people sleep, it did not have any firm plans, even though the event is about five weeks away (tentatively).

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. issued a statement that reads in part: “With the event just a little over a month away, we have been asked to prepare in just days what has failed to get done in over a year of negotiations and preparations at the previous location … With such a short time frame the logistical hurdles to ensure the public health and safety of the concertgoers and the surrounding community could pose a significant challenge.

Town of Vernon Supervisor Randy Watson stated: "“Our stance has been from the beginning of hearing about this that we have serious concerns regarding having enough time to plan for an event of this size at this location. We have been working hard at sorting out all the details of this, which still remain up in the air, to be quite honest. We will continue to do so.”

Woodstock psychedelic tubes are still on sale for $18 each.
