Things are not going well for Woodstock 50. As you may know, the event delayed applying for its original permits at Watkins Glen International, and then only did apply about four months prior to the event. Those permits were denied, in part, because Woodstock failed to pay the $150,000 permit fee.

Woodstock then moved over to Vernon Downs in Oneida County New York. Organizers applied for the permit there and recently attended a town hall meeting. at the town hall meeting, it appeared locals did not want the event to take place. Yesterday, the permit application was denied by the town. Woodstock 50 has five days to file an appeal.

They also issued a statement: "In response to the denial of an event permit by the Town of Vernon, Woodstock 50 believes certain political forces may be working against the resurrection of the Festival. Local reports claim Woodstock’s filing for the permit was “incomplete” but that is not the case. Woodstock 50 officials were informed by the Town of Vernon that most questions had been answered and asked only that Woodstock submit medical, safety/security and traffic plans by this past Sunday, which it did. With a venue chosen, financing assembled and many of the artist’s [sic] supporting Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary event, the organizers are hopeful that their appeal and reapplication tonight will prevail without further political interference."

As of today, Woodstock 50 says the event is still on and will take place August 16, 17, and 18… somewhere… If you want to help fund the permit appeal, Woodstock $18 psychedelic tubes are still available for purchase.
