Yesterday, news broke that Green Day entered into a two-year partnership with the NHL. As part the deal, the band's new single “Fire, Ready, Aim” will serve as the opening theme song for Wednesday Night Hockey. Also, they’ll perform the headlining set at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game, January 25th in St. Louis. The band's music will also appear in NHL promotional videos and suggested arena play lists.

Steve Mayer, chief content officer for NHL, issued a statement: "The band [members are] hockey fans. The drummer, Tré Cool, is a big fan. These guys have been to games, but they’re not over the top as much as Tré is. He’s a San Jose fan who now, because he lives in Newport Beach, is becoming an Anaheim Ducks fan.”

Green Day's new album Father of All… [motherfuckers]" is out February 7.
