The Libertines will be headlining the massive (and free!) Love Music Hate Racism festival in Finsbury Park, North London on Sunday June 6th. The event starts at noon and will run until 8:00 pm. UK legends Mick Jones and Billy Bragg will also play, along with musical acts from a wide array of genres and styles. A "VERY special guest" will be announced next week.

The event is being organized by the UK's Anti Nazi League. Their website provides some details on their hopes for the event:

The event comes just four days before the London Assembly and Euro elections on Thursday 10 June in which the fascist BNP hope to win seats. The BNP are currently polling 5% of the vote in London, enough to get them a seat on the GLA. They need get only 10% in any Euro seat to get an MEP. But we can stop them. The 6 June festival, along with the one in Manchester on 30 May will see tens of thousands celebrating black and white unity against the racists and fascists and send a message out loud and clear - the BNP's not welcome here!

In March of this year The Libertines, Buzzcocks and Mick Jones played a Love Music Hate Hate Racism at London Astoria. These events are in the tradition of `78's Rock Against Racism event, which featured The Clash, X-Ray Spex and Steel Pulse playing to a rally of nearly 100,000 people.
