Little Steven Van Zandt's 9 city Battle of the Bands is currently in progress, with dates completed in Boston, Providence, Philadelphia and Miami. The competition is in conjunction with his nationally syndicated Underground Garage radio show. The judges for the upcoming Washington DC date in the competition include a number of punk rock personalities, namely Steve Jackson of the Pietasters, Dave Smalley of Down By Law and Darryl Jenifer of Bad Brains. The winning band from each date on the tour will proceed to the finals in NYC on June 23rd at Irving Plaza. The grand prize winner from that show will earn a slot on Little Steven's upcoming Underground Garage Festival alongside The New York Dolls, Iggy And The Stooges and many others on August 14th at Randalls Island.
