While mainstream media has been speaking at length about the passing of former president and actor Ronald Reagan yesterday, it deserves some mention here due to his "influence" on punk rock in the 80s. Bands from the Dead Kennedys to Bad Brains to Reagan Youth found a worthy adversary in the man. In spite of how you might feel about his political career, his loss is also the loss of a nemesis. Any good cause needs a compelling opponent, and Reagan more than provided one for a generation of punk bands.
