The Juliana Theory has announced that their new record will come out on uber-indie Rykodisc, in conjunction with the band's own label Paper Fist Recordings. Ryko has been the home for such influential bands as Sugar, Morphine, The Flaming Lips, and more, and currently houses The Fire Theft, among others. The band is currently demoing upwards of 30 songs for their 4th studio album, which should be recorded this fall and released in early 2005. No producer has been chosen for the project yet.

Vocalist Brett Detar has this to say about the new album:

"I would say that this album is shaping up to be our most energetic album yet. The overall mood is much more upbeat than on our last record. The songs are faster and sometimes more raw. I think we're always moving forward creatively, but there are some definite nods to our first two albums on many of these new songs as well."

The band currently only has two appearances scheduled for this summer - one, a performance at this year's Hellfest, and the second, a hometown show in Pittsburgh.
